  • Publication number: 20140040607
Abstract: Systems and methods for creating universal microcode images and for reconstructing a microcode image from a universal microcode image are described in the present disclosure. One method, among others, comprises receiving a plurality of microcode images each configured to initialize hardware within an electronic device before the electronic device is booted up. The method also includes separating each microcode image into sections and comparing the sections to determine whether or not two or more sections contain identical code. The method also includes creating a universal microcode image from the sections that are unique.

  • Publication number: 20130028417
Abstract: The present invention is suitable for use in a multi-encrypted system that dynamically allocates stream identifiers in a second stream depending upon the identifiers in a first stream. The first stream is monitored and counters are incremented with the presence of an identifier. The count for each of the counters is then received. Using the count, a control processor then assigns or revises identifiers in the second stream.

  • Publication number: 20130016975
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a frequency modulated (FM) burst mode optical system that allows optical signals having a common wavelength provided by a plurality of FM burst mode optical transmitters to be passively combined onto a single optical fiber. A single FM optical receiver receives the combined signals and processes them accordingly. Each FM burst mode optical transmitter includes an FM modulator, is carrier detect circuit and a laser. The FM modulator modulates a carrier signal, such as a 1.21 GHz signal, with received reverse electrical signals. When a subcarrier signal is detected o the carrier detect circuit, the laser is turned and the frequency modulated carrier signal is used to intensity modulate a laser to provide an optical signal. Due to the burst-mode transmission of optical signals, the optical signals can be passively combined and transmitted to a single optical receiver.

  • Publication number: 20110280396
Abstract: The present invention is suitable for use in a multi-encrypted system that dynamically allocates stream identifiers in a secondary overlay stream depending upon the identifiers in a primary encrypted stream. The primary encrypted input stream is monitored to determine the presence of all identifier values. Once the identifier values are determined, the values are stored in an allocation table and marked as ‘in-use’ to ensure that these identifier values are not allocated to any of the secondary overlay streams. The primary encrypted stream is monitored and the allocation table is updated continuously to detect any changes or conflicts to the identifier values, and the secondary overlay streams are dynamically updated accordingly.

  • Patent number: 7941918
Abstract: A spring-loaded device is installed into a node housing at a predetermined location. The predetermined location is selected to correspond to another predetermined location into which a stinger may be installed. These predetermined locations on the node housing are selected to further correspond to a predetermined internal location of an RF interface connector. A conducting pin of the RF interface extends through a dielectric between a nail head shaped end, which provides electrical connection with the stinger projection, and an end soldered to a PCB of the amplifier. The amplifier may be installed and the node housing closed before the stinger and spring-loaded device are installed into the housing. This facilitates installation of the stinger into the housing without having to open the housing and remove the amplifier. External threads on the spring-loaded device facilitate installation thereof, but a unique torque is not required therefor.

  • Patent number: 7813095
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a discrete protection circuit located on a circuit card, and systems and methods related thereto. The protection circuit protects circuit card components from an inrush current and overcurrent conditions. The discrete protection circuit includes a switch to control a delivered load current to an output port, an SCR which latches when an overcurrent condition is detected across a sense resistor, and a series of resistors and a capacitor that determines the retry delay subsequent to an overcurrent detection. Advantages of the discrete protection circuit of the invention over prior art integrated circuits include: lower parts counts, lower production costs, greater flexibility, and increased reliability.

  • Patent number: 7810131
Abstract: Control system with global control stream for controlling a plurality of decoders. The control system simultaneously controls a plurality of decoders at a remote location by using a global control data stream. A global control stream is a collection of data used for global applications. There are currently three global data streams—disaster recovery, live event control, and storage control. The streams may exist on a shared or independent PID. A control server forms a transport stream and the global control stream is injected into the transport stream by the control server.

  • Patent number: 7801119
Abstract: An architecture for providing high-speed access over frequency-division multiplexed (FDM) channels allows transmission of ethernet frames and/or other data across a cable transmission network or other form of FDM transport. The architecture involves downstream and upstream FDM multiplexing techniques to allow contemporaneous, parallel communications across a plurality of frequency channels. Furthermore, the architecture allows a central concentrator to support a plurality of remote devices that each have guaranteed bandwidth through connection-oriented allocations of bi-directional data flows. The upstream and downstream bandwidth allocation can support symmetrical bandwidth as well as asymmetrical bandwidth in either direction. The architecture generally can be used to support connection-oriented physical layer connectivity between a remote device and the central concentrator.
