  • Patent number: 5608822
Abstract: This invention discloses an improved method and apparatus for generating a screened reproduction of an image. The apparatus comprises a matrix defining an arrangement of a plurality of areas within a printing dot, each having an assigned reference value. The screening logic apparatus receives input density information with respect to an image and includes apparatus for assigning to each input density a corresponding plurality of reference values. The apparatus also includes a method for combining with each of the plurality of reference values a random additional reference value, thereby defining a randomized plurality of reference values. The apparatus also causes the exposure of those areas in the matrix having reference values which correspond to the randomized plurality of reference values.

  • Patent number: 5608464
Abstract: A digital video effects generator includes: means for up-sampling the digital video component signals prior to their spatial transformation and linear interpolation, thereby reducing losses due to the (sin x)/x frequency response of the sampled video signal; means for spatially-mapping video motion data representing the degree of video data motion between temporally adjacent video frames and for motion adaptive interpolation to selectively blend interpolated video field data in accordance therewith; means for pre-transform keying, thereby allowing two video signal transformations to be keyed simultaneously; means for selectively transforming portions of input video signals, thereby allowing selective keying of non-spatially transformed video into selected regions of the video image; means for selectively linking keyframes within separate effects and providing smooth parametric transitions therebetween, thereby allowing several separate effects to be combined into a single effect with smooth parametric transit

  • Patent number: 5600448
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for generating a screened reproduction of an image having a scanner and a CPU receiving input density values of an original and coordinate information and storing screening information for providing an operating input to a plotter enabling the plotter to provide a screened image of the original. The CPU is operative to modify at least one of the input density values, the coordinate information and the screening information, thereby to provide an operating input generally free of repeated artifacts arising from the lack of coordination between the coordinate systems of the plotter and those of the screening information. This is achieved, in particular, by maintaining a uniform number of plotter lines in each dot of the screened image for a given input density.

  • Patent number: 5594556
Abstract: A laser scanning device is disclosed which includes a spinner, one light spot misalignment detector and a beam misalignment corrector. The spinner scans a light beam across a scanning line. The detector is located generally at a beginning of the scanned line and measures an initial misalignment of the light spot in a cross-scanning direction. The corrector dynamically corrects, during scanning along said scanning line, the scanning misalignment of the light beam in accordance with at least the initial misalignment. The corrector includes a pre-positioner which determines an offset for the initial misalignment, a pyramidal error estimator which estimates a first portion of the misalignment due to pyramidal error and a wobble estimator which estimate a second portion of the misalignment caused by wobble. The estimations are summed together and used for correcting the misalignment.
