  • Patent number: 4678351
Abstract: An electronic typewriter has a right margin zone hyphenation system operable with an error correction function to provide a reasonably aligned right margin of printed lines on a work sheet. To hyphen a word or a partial word printed in the hyphenation zone, the operator positions a print mechanism to a hyphen position within the word and depresses a hyphen key. The electronics automatically erases the characters at the hyphen position and to the right of the hyphen position, prints a hyphen at the hyphen position, moves the print mechanism to a left margin, indexes the work sheet and prints the characters erased from the preceding line at the left margin on the next line. The hyphenation system is also operable to automatically erase an entire word in the hyphenation zone and reprint the word on the next line.

  • Patent number: 4655620
Abstract: An electronic typewriter with an electronic spelling dictionary feature included therein automatically adds a code signal to a code memory register corresponding to a print position of a printed error. The printed error is detected by the dictionary feature in response to printing operations. The electronic typewriter also automatically repositions a print hammer of a printing mechanism to the printed error position from a position beyond the printed error. This is accomplished by an operator actuating a key or a multiple key sequence for finding the printed error by the electronics searching for and finding the added code signal.

  • Patent number: 4652434
Abstract: The invention pertains to an entrained-downflow chlorination process of fine metalliferous ores particularly containing alkali and/or alkaline earth metals greater than about 0.3% by weight as the oxide. The process includes a quenching step following the chlorination step where the chlorinated products are quenched by liquid cooling fluid spray patterns adapted to prevent solidification of the alkali and/or alkaline earth materials onto the reactor walls. The chlorinator unit of this invention prevents disruption of the chlorination process due to presence of liquids or sticky particles and it contains a quenching spray means disposed below the chlorination zone in the entrained-downflow chlorinator unit, whereby the quenching sprays prevent reactor wall buildup.

  • Patent number: 4639299
Abstract: Package and tank stable low temperature self-curing cation-active aqueous soluble or dispersible coating compositions are prepared by polymerizing blocked isocyanatoethyl methacrylate (IEM) alone or copolymerizing with various vinyl unsaturated monomers optionally in the presence of epoxy-amine adduct. These cation-active polymers when acidified or partially acidified provide aqueous solutions or dispersions especially useful as low temperature curable vehicles in cathodic electrocoating.

  • Patent number: 4633020
Abstract: The invention relates to a novel fluorinated pre-polymer and novel process steps in producing the same. The pre-polymers are quinoxaline materials derived by reaction of diketone linkage containing perfluoro-compounds with an aromatic diamine. The diketone is produced by oxidatively dechlorinating a polychloroketone which may be a monoketone or a bis-ketone. The polychloroketone is produced by reacting a keto-ylid with a chlorinating agent, e.g., chlorine. The keto-ylid is produced by reacting a phosphorane with an acid halide of a polyoxy-perfluoroalkylene oxide wherein the perfluoro-oxyalkylene group contains two or three carbon atoms, and there are present from two to twenty perfluoro-oxyalkylene units in the oligomer. The quinoxalines, the polychloroketones and the diketones hereof are novel products. Cross-linking may be effected with a free radical generator.
