Patent number: 9165417Abstract: The method includes using a voting computer to represent the user selected voting options gathered by a voting application running in the voting computer, using an element that has a machine readable format such as a barcode, recording then the element in a physical media using a printing device connected to the voting computer, so that it is suitable to be delivered by the user using a physical channel such as a postal service to the electoral officers. Once the delivered physical media is received by the intended destination (e.g., election officials), the method introduces the step of reading the element information contained in the physical media using a reading device connected to a retrieving computer. Finally, the method introduces a process for generating a physical ballot in the retrieving computer using the information delivered by the voter and a printing device.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2011Date of Patent: October 20, 2015Assignee: SCYTL SECURE ELECTRONIC VOTING, S.A.Inventors: Pere Vallès Fontanals, Pablo Sarrias Bandrés, Jordi PuiggalíAllepuz, Sandra Guasch Castelló

Patent number: 9155959Abstract: Methods and systems that enable reliable audits of a number of predetermined trust requirements for games by electronic means, either on-site or remote, are disclosed. A system including a gaming module to which the players interact with a security module and an audit module capable of several degrees of dispersion and/or grouping performs provision by the gaming module to the security module of digital information containing significant events occurred during the games, generation by the security module of a protected record for each of the cited significant events, storage by the security module of every protected record, generating a file of protected records, and access by the audit module to the file of protected records, independent from the games operator, to verify the correct development of the games.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2005Date of Patent: October 13, 2015Assignee: SCYTL SECURE ELECTRONIC VOTING S.A.Inventors: Andreu Riera Jorba, Vanesa Daza Fernandez

Method and system for protection of user information registrations applicable in electoral processes
Patent number: 8316454Abstract: The present invention describes a method and system for protecting the integrity and authorship of a piece of registration information of the user, applicable in voter information registration, by means of biometric techniques. To that end, after a first stage of entering a piece of registration information, a second stage of protecting the integrity of the registration information is implemented. In this second stage, an item of integrity proof of said information is generated and said item of integrity proof is displayed to the user who wishes to protect it. In a third stage of generating an item of non-repudiation proof of the registration information, an item of biometric proof of the user which contains the item of integrity proof displayed is obtained, an item of non-repudiation proof is constructed from said item of biometric proof, and finally the item of non-repudiation proof is stored.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2007Date of Patent: November 20, 2012Assignee: SCYTL Secure Electronic Voting S.A.Inventors: Pere Valls Fontanals, Jordi Puiggalí Allepuz, Victor Manuel Morales Rocha -
Publication number: 20120261470Abstract: The method uses a computer voting selection application suitable for execution in a remote environment by a remote user for obtaining in a local site a marked ballot from the voting selections made by the remote user. It includes generating using a remote voting computer an element representing in a machine readable format an information of the voting selections made by the remote user, recording this machine readable element in a first physical support, and sending this first physical support through a physical delivery channel to the local site where the machine readable element from the physical support is read using a reading device, and the voting selections made by the remote user are retrieved using a retrieving computer. A record representing the remote user voting selections retrieved is then obtained and processed by an electronic counting device that counts voting selections from images obtained from the obtained record.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2012Publication date: October 18, 2012Applicant: SCYTL SECURE ELECTRONIC VOTING, S.A.Inventors: Pere Vallés Fontanals, Pablo Sarrias Bandres, Jordi Puiggali Allepuz, Sandra Guasch Castello

Publication number: 20120144186Abstract: The present invention describes a verification method which allows to ensure that the decryption process has been done honestly by the entity in charge of that. The method described in this invention is characterized by basing the verification of the correctness of the decryption of a set of encrypted messages in a proof demonstrating that the result of the operation with an operator ? of blocks of encrypted messages is equal to the encryption of the result of operating with the operator ? blocks composed by the same messages, decrypted. In order to do that, a first input integrity proof is generated for each block of encrypted messages based on the operation ? of the encrypted messages, and the link with the output integrity proofs generated with the operation ? of the decrypted messages composing each block is verified.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 12, 2009Publication date: June 7, 2012Applicant: SCYTL SECURE ELECTRONIC VOTING, S.A.Inventors: Jordi Puiggalí Allepuz, Sandra Guasch Castelló, Francesc Sebé Feixas, Josep M. Publication number: 20100114674Abstract: The invention relates to an auditable method and system for generating a verifiable vote record that is suitable for electronic voting. The inventive method is characterized in that a voting module, an audit module and a verification module perform the following steps in which: voting options are selected by the voter in the voting module; the voting options are sent from the voting module to the audit module; a vote record is generated in the verification module which contains the voting options selected by the voters in the voting module; the voter confirms that the vote record contains the voting options that s/he selected in the voting module by direct verification of the vote record; and audit information is generated in the audit module in order to secure the electronic vote and/or the associated vote record which are both generated from the voting options selected and confirmed by the voter.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2005Publication date: May 6, 2010Applicant: SCYTL SECURE ELECTRONIC VOTING, S.A.Inventors: Vanesa Daza Fernandez, Jorge Puiggali Allepuz, Andreu Riera Jorba, Andreu Riera Alonso, Pere Valles Fontanals
