Patent number: 6959229Abstract: A system and method for routing a carrier on a movable conveyance system having a multiplicity of switching stations and at least one carrier. Each carrier has an electronic readable tag coupled thereto, and each tag has a specific identifier that can be read. A reader is configured to read the electronic readable tag and to communicate the tag's identifier to a controller. The controller, in turn, is configured to control at least one switching station of the movable conveyance system based at least in part on the identifier.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2003Date of Patent: October 25, 2005Assignee: SDI Industries, Inc.Inventor: Patrick Eidemiller

Publication number: 20040178048Abstract: A hook assembly is provided for the offloading of hangers from an overhead conveyer system. The hook assembly may be designed to obviate the need for trolleys in an overhead conveyer system. A system for transporting products on hangers is also provided. The system may include a series of interconnected rails, a movable chain, a pusher dog assembly, at least one track switch and a hook assembly. The pusher dog assembly may be joined to the movable chain, which may, in turn, be disposed parallel to, and above, the series of interconnected rails. The at least one track switch may be designed for the induction or exit of hangers into or from the system. The hook assembly may be joined to an exit rail which may, in turn, be joined to the at least one track switch.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2003Publication date: September 16, 2004Applicant: SDI INDUSTRIES, INC.Inventor: Richardi G. Publication number: 20040174244Abstract: A Smart Reader for controlling a switching station has several elements. First, it includes an interrogator for communicating with an RFID transponder, the RFID transponder having a specific code stored on a memory chip therein. A memory module is electronically coupled to the interrogator and is configured to store at least one code transmitted by the RFID transponder to the interrogator. Circuitry for comparing an input from the interrogator and the at least one code stored in the memory module is coupled to at least one relay. The at least one relay is electronically coupled to a physical switching station, and controls the physical switching station based at least in part on the specific code stored in the RFID transponder.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 7, 2003Publication date: September 9, 2004Applicant: SDI INDUSTRIES, INC.Inventor: Patrick Eidemiller

Publication number: 20040173438Abstract: A system is provided for the transportation of products on hangers. The system is designed to have a high throughput. The system includes a series of interconnected rails, a movable train, a pusher dog assembly and a track switch. The track switch may be designed for the induction of products on hangers onto the series of interconnected rails. The pusher dog assembly may be engaged to the movable train, which may be disposed adjacent to the series of interconnected rails. The system may be configured to effectuate the movement of hangers along the series of interconnected rails through the action of the pusher dog assembly. A method for transporting products on hangers is also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 7, 2003Publication date: September 9, 2004Applicant: SDI Industries, Inc.Inventor: Richard G. Ursitti

Patent number: 6769531Abstract: A pusher dog assembly is provided for the transportation of products on hangers in a conveyer system. The pusher dog assembly may be designed to directly engage hangers on a series of interconnected rails. A system for transporting products on hangers is also provided. The system may include a series of interconnected rails, an enclosed track, a chain and a pusher dog assembly. The chain may be disposed within the enclosed track, which may, in turn, be disposed parallel to, and above, the series of interconnected rails. The pusher dog may be engaged to the chain and may be designed to directly engage hangers and push them along the series of interconnected rails.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2003Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Assignee: SDI Industries, Inc.Inventor: Richard G.
