Abstract: A method for inhibiting bud growth and development on plants by applying to the plants a bud growth inhibiting amount of dimethyl 2,3,5,6-tetrachloroterephthalate is disclosed.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for the preparation of ketones by a catalytic vapor phase reaction of using reactants such as ketones with carboxylic acids and/or carboxylic acid precursors. An example of such a reaction is that of acetone with pivalic acid over a ceria-alumina catalyst at a temperature of nearly 470.degree. C. to produce pinacolone.
Abstract: Novel heterobicyclic compounds of Formula I, processes for preparing same and pesticidal compositions and methods are described.

Abstract: Novel compounds of the general formula ##STR1## as well as novel compositions thereof and methods of using same are described. These compounds have been found to be valuable for controlling, modifying and inhibiting the growth of plants.

An example of such a reaction is that of acetone with pivalic acid over a ceria-alumina catalyst at a temperature of nearly 470.degree. C. to produce pinacolone.
Abstract: At least one compound defined by one of the following formulae: ##STR1## where X represents Cl, Br, ##STR2## NHSO.sub.2 CH.sub.3, ##STR3## or --SCH.sub.3, and n is 1 or 2; andCH.sub.3 SO.sub.2 NHCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CN (II)have been administered to animals to improve the efficiency of food utilization by these animals. These compounds can be administered orally by combining the compounds with feed compositions and fed to animals such as ruminants with a developed rumen function as well as other animals that ferment fibrous material and vegetable matter in the cecum or colon. These compounds effect the rumen metabolism to increase the production of propionate relative to other volatile fatty acids, particularly acetate and to inhibit methanogenesis.
