Abstract: A security system having: a frame with first and second support assemblies respectively having first and second cantilevered arms, each with a free end; and a blocking assembly. The first free end can be directed into a U-shaped portion on a first portable consumer article to allow the U-shaped portion to straddle the first cantilevered arm. The second free end can be directed into a U-shaped portion on a second portable consumer article to allow the U-shaped portion on the second article to straddle the second cantilevered arm. Changing the blocking assembly from the loading state into the securing state prevents the first and second articles, straddling respective arms, from being separated from the security system. Changing the blocking assembly from the securing state into the loading state allows either of the first and second displayed articles to be separated from the security system without separating the other.

Abstract: A USB Type C sensor is disclosed for use with an alarm system for monitoring a chargeable electrical device having a USB Type C port. A sensor comprises a first cable having a USB Type C plug receivable in the USB Type C port. A second cable has a second USB plug receivable in a power source. A third cable has an alarm plug receivable in an alarm receptacle for the alarm system, in use. A housing is operatively connected to the first, second and third cables. A sensor circuit is in the housing and electrically connects the second USB plug to the USB Type C plug to charge a chargeable electrical device to be monitored. A switch circuit monitors a configuration channel of the USB Type C port to determine if the first cable is connected to the chargeable electrical device and responsive thereto controls a switch electrically connected to the alarm plug so that the alarm system monitors status of the switch.

Abstract: A support assembly for displaying a portable article having a frame to engage the portable article and a blocking assembly configured with a plurality of arms to maintain the portable article in a display position on the frame. One of the arms is part of a first component. At least a first connector on the first component and at least a first connector on the frame are configured so that the first component can be moved in a first direction: a) from a pre-assembly position, spaced from the frame, towards the frame; and b) into an operative position to thereby cause the at least first connector on the first component to engage the at least first connector on the frame. In the operative position, the first component is substantially blocked from translating relative to the frame in a direction transversely to the first direction.

Abstract: A wireless system for monitoring portable articles includes a central alarm unit (CAU) comprising a programmed controller operatively associated with a CAU wireless communication circuit. At least one wireless sensor comprises a programmed controller operatively associated with a sensor wireless communication circuit for communicating with the CAU wireless communication circuit. The CAU is programmed to periodically determine distance between the wireless sensor and the CAU and operates in a programming mode and responsive to manual input commands to determine a normal distance of the article being monitored from the CAU. The CAU is programmed to define a first zone as the normal distance plus a first select amount and a second zone as the normal distance plus a second select amount, greater than the first select amount.

Abstract: In combination: a) a portable consumer article having a U-shaped portion; and b) a security system having: a frame; and a closure assembly movable to change the security system between a loading state and a secured state. The frame, closure assembly, and portable consumer article are configured so that: i) with the security system in the loading state the U-shaped portion can be displayed to straddle a part of the frame; and ii) with the portable consumer article displayed the security system can be changed from the loading state into the secured state wherein the article is prevented from being separated from the security system.

Abstract: The combination of: an electronic device having a monitor; and a support assembly made up of a collection of components. A first plurality of the components can be selectively changed between: a) a first state wherein at least two of the components in the first plurality of components are separated from each other and a third component; and b) a second state wherein the first plurality of components cooperatively define a first support assembly configuration with a device support surface to elevate the supported device. The first plurality of components is changeable between the first and second states without requiring use of any fasteners.

Abstract: In combination: a) a container having a case bounding a storage space and an access opening bounded by a surface and in communication with the storage space; and b) a security system. The security system has a frame and a force applying structure on the frame. The frame and force applying structure are configured so that with the security system in operative relationship with the container, the security system can be placed selectively in: i) a secured state wherein the force applying structure exerts a compressive force against the access opening surface to thereby prevent at least a part of the security system from being withdrawn from the access opening; and ii) an assembly state wherein the at least part of the security system can be directed into and withdrawn from the access opening.

Abstract: A support assembly having a frame to support a portable article in a display position. The frame has first and second frame parts movable one relative to the other to change a dimension of a receiving space for a part of the first portable article. The frame is configured so that: a) relative movement can be effected between the first and second frame parts between: i) a first relationship wherein the receiving space has a first receiving dimension; and ii) a second relationship wherein the receiving space has a second receiving dimension that is less than the first receiving dimension; and b) the first and second frame parts upon being changed from the first relationship into the second relationship are blocked from changing from the second relationship back into the first relationship.

Abstract: The combination of an EPOS terminal and a security system. The terminal has a housing with a reader for identifying information on a user card. The housing has an external surface defining an original outer configuration. The security system has at least one component configured to be fixed to the housing. The at least one component substantially effectively alters a contour of the original outer configuration of the external surface so as to block placement of a skin, with a skimming component and at least nominally matched in shape to at least a portion of the original outer configuration of the external surface, conformingly over the external surface of the housing.

Abstract: The combination of: a) a portable electronic article; and b) a display assembly. The display assembly has: a support assembly that is engaged with the portable electronic article with the portable electronic article in a display position on the display assembly; and a guide assembly configured to be operatively connected to a support and through which at least a part of the support assembly is guided in a predetermined path relative to the support to which the guide assembly is operatively connected. With the portable electronic article in the display position on the support assembly and the guide assembly operatively connected to the support, the portable article can be reoriented relative to the support by moving the at least part of the support assembly together with the portable electronic device in the predetermined path.

Abstract: The combination of: a) an electronic device having a wall portion with first and second ends and at least one enlargement on each of opposite sides of the wall portion; and b) a security system. The security system is made up of an elongate body, with third and fourth ends, and a connecting assembly. The body has first and second legs and a base joined together to cooperatively define a “U” shape. The connecting assembly and the body are configured so that with the security system operatively positioned, the first and second legs, base, and connecting assembly cooperatively encircle the elongate wall portion and the body is confined between at least first and second of the enlargements on the opposite sides of the elongate wall portion. In one form, a tether is secured to the connecting assembly and to a fixed support.

Abstract: The combination of a wearable device and a security assembly. The wearable device has a band configured to extend at least partially around a limb of a user to maintain the wearable device operatively supported on the user's limb. The security assembly has a flexible sensor configured to define an electrical circuit path. The flexible sensor is secured to the band in an operative state. A stabilizing assembly is configured to bear a part of the flexible sensor against the wearable device with the stabilizing assembly in an operative state.

Abstract: The combination of an electronic device and a security system therefor. The electronic device has a first component with an upper surface and a second component configured to be moved relative to the first component around a first axis. The security system has a holding system with a first holding assembly and at least one track assembly configured to guide translational movement of the first holding assembly in a path relative to the electronic device in a display position relative to a support at a display location. The at least one track assembly is secured to the support. The first holding assembly is guided from a starting position into a holding position. The first holding assembly in the holding position has a portion that resides over the upper surface of the first component adjacent to the first axis with the electronic device in the display position so as to engage the upper surface to thereby limit upward movement of the first component relative to the support.

Abstract: The combination of a display and a security system. The display has a support assembly configured to maintain at least one article in a display position and a base assembly configured to maintain the support assembly in an operative state on a subjacent surface wherein the support assembly can be moved relative to the base assembly to reposition an article in the display position relative to the base assembly. The security system has an anchoring assembly configured to be operatively secured relative to a subjacent surface and/or another object in the vicinity of a subjacent surface at a display location at which the display is to be supported to prevent removal of the display from the display location. The security system and display are configured to be releasably placed in an engaged relationship wherein the base assembly cannot be separated from the anchoring assembly.

Abstract: The combination of a shopping cart and a checkout location. The shopping cart has a wheeled frame defining: a) a primary article storage receptacle; and b) a lower storage shelf. The checkout location has: a) an aisle through which the shopping cart can be directed and with laterally spaced sides; b) a processing assembly at one side of the aisle; c) a station at which a person can be situated to operate the processing assembly; and d) a mirror on the other side of the aisle situated so that a person situated at the station can observe a reflection of articles placed on the storage shelf. The mirror has a reflective surface configured and located to reflect an image of the shopping cart only below the top of the shopping cart from a vantage point of a person situated at the station.

Abstract: The combination of a candle and a security assembly. The candle has a case, bounding a receptacle for a supply of wax, with a main body and a neck. The neck defines an opening into the receptacle. The case defines a shoulder facing in a first direction. The security assembly is configured to be placed in first and second different states. The security assembly in the first state is configured to be directed through the neck generally in the first direction up to and past the shoulder into a securing position. The security assembly in the first state and securing position is changeable into the second state wherein the security assembly is blocked by the shoulder from being moved generally oppositely to the first direction through the neck to be separated from the case. The security assembly in its second state is configured to accommodate an accessible portion of an embedded wick.

Abstract: A display stand for a portable article with a base having a bottom bearing portion and a support for a portable article. A retracting mechanism has a spool around which a flexible tether is wrapped. The spool has an axis around which the spool is turned as the tether is: a) paid out to allow a portable article to which the first end of the tether is connected to be moved away from the base; and b) retracted to shorten a paid out length of the tether. The retracting mechanism has a biasing assembly that urges the spool to turn around the spool axis so as to retract the tether. The tether is guided to be paid out from the spool generally in a straight path in a line, with the line of the straight path transverse to the spool axis.

Abstract: A securable article display having a main base fixedly mounted upon a support and a first elongate hanger projecting therefrom. A blocking system has a U-shaped component with a base portion and spaced first and second legs. The U-shaped component is movable relative to the main base between: a) a first position wherein a portion of the first elongate hanger resides between the first and second legs to prevent separation of an article; and b) a second position wherein an article can be separated. The portion of the first elongate hanger moves through a slot as the U-shaped component is changed between the first and second positions. A locking system includes a blocking assembly that is changeable between: a) a locked state wherein the blocking assembly blocks the slot with the U-shaped component in its first position; and b) an unlocked state wherein the portion of the first elongate hanger is allowed to move through the slot.

Abstract: An alarm system for monitoring portable articles comprises a smart sensor for operatively engaging a portable article. The smart sensor includes an actuator having a secured state and an unsecured state relative to the portable article. A memory stores a sensor address. A controller has a sensor bus operatively connected to the smart sensor. The controller includes a memory storing sensor addresses. The controller is operative to periodically communicate with the smart sensor to determine state of the sensor and to read the sensor address. The controller generates an alarm when the smart sensor is in the unsecured state or if the sensor address read from the smart sensor is not stored in the memory.
