  • Patent number: 9847139
Abstract: An apparatus having a first circuit and a second circuit is disclosed. The first circuit may be configured to generate statistics of a region of a memory circuit as part of a read scrub of the region. The region may have multiple units of data. The memory circuit may be configured to store the data in a nonvolatile condition. The second circuit is generally configured to (i) track one or more parameters of the region based on the statistics, (ii) determine when one or more of the statistics of one or more outliers of the units in the region exceeds a corresponding threshold and (iii) track the parameters of the outlier units separately from the parameters of the region in response to exceeding the corresponding threshold. The parameters generally control one or more reference voltages used to read the data from the region.

  • Publication number: 20110260695
Abstract: A capacitor device and associated method having a housing made of a material that is folded to form a cavity sized to contain an electrolyte and electrode package. The material has a substrate and a film attached to the substrate. Respective portions of the film that are folded against each other are fused together to form a first seal that in cooperation with a folded edge of the material seals the cavity. The capacitor also has a second seal attached to the housing and to the first seal that seals the cavity.

  • Patent number: 6498701
Abstract: A method and system is presented for a slider positioned to control a flow of lubricant over the slider body. The slider can also include a raised rail. A pad can be positioned on the slider between the raised rail and a trailing edge of the slider. The pad can extend to the trailing edge of the slider. The pad can include at least two separated edges, which form a central channel. The pad can be made of carbon. The pads can be approximately 0.03 micron tall in a cavity that is approximately 2 micro deep. The pad can be angled in relation to an air flow across the slider to control lube.

  • Patent number: 6407966
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus for generating the focus, tracking, and data signals for a magneto-optical data storage device, using a Wollaston prism and a photodetector having four subdetectors. A reflected beam from a disk is directed into the Wollaston prism and is split into two beams, with the beams oriented substantially parallel to the in-track direction. The beams from the prism are collected asymmetrically by both subdetectors of first and second pairs of subdetectors, so that one subdetector in each pair collects more light than the other, and two diagonally opposite subdetectors receive more light than the other two subdetectors. Two focus composite signals are generated by adding the signals from diagonally opposite subdetectors, and the focus error signal is generated by subtracting one focus composite signal from the other.

  • Patent number: 6317800
Abstract: Control of a loop of a fiber-channel arbitrated-loop serial communications channel is maintained (i.e., the loop connection is held open) as long as a minimum amount of data, which optionally is determined by programming (called a “programmable amount of data”), is available for transmission, in order to reduce the overall amount of time spent arbitrating for control of the loop. The improved communications channel system includes a channel node having one or more ports, each port supporting a fiber-channel arbitrated-loop serial communications channel loop, wherein each port arbitrates for control of that port's attached channel loop. The system also includes an arbitration-and-control apparatus to reduce arbitrated-loop overhead, wherein control of the channel loop, once control is achieved by arbitration, is maintained by the arbitration-and-control apparatus as long as a predetermined amount of data is available within control of the node.
