Patents Assigned to Seal-Spout Corporation
  • Patent number: 5707196
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for forming a cap with a pouring spout for a container. A continuous web is fed to a spout inserting apparatus which inserts a spout directly into the continuous web. The continuous web may thereafter proceed to a label applicator which applies a label to the continuous web over the spout. Thereafter, the continuous web is moved past a dye and press wherein the cap is punched out of the continuous web and the edge is folded to form a cap. Thereafter, the caps are collected, oriented and directed to a point for subsequent use. Additionally, container bottoms may be made by the same method and apparatus. In such a case, the spout is not inserted into the web. Scrap is continuously removed after the caps are cut from the continuous web. The caps may be subsequently processed, i.e. attached to the tops and bottoms of containers.

  • Patent number: 5697876
Abstract: A spout for a container is provided with depending wings extending down from a bottom edge of the spout. The depending wings terminate in a point for piercing a container. The depending wings permit the spout to pivot ninety degrees from the container to extend from a container at a ninety degree angle therefrom. The spout has side walls with upper edges having arcs of ninety degrees. The spout is inserted into a container with a ram which drives the spout against a ramp to rock the depending wings upward with respect to the bottom edge of the spout. Thereafter, the ram drives the points into the container and the upper edges of the side walls of the spout contact the container and cam the spout back to a horizontal position to insert the ninety degree spout with the depending wings into a container.

  • Patent number: 5141150
Abstract: A tamper evident container is provided having a pouring spout which includes a shoot surface pivotally attached to a wall of the container. The shoot extends beyond and overlays an opening in the container wall to securely maintain the opening in the wall closed. The shoot includes a tip used to open the spout. A tamper evident sealing label overlays the spout and tip. The label includes a frangible sheet having an adhesive portion for attaching the label to the container surface and an adhesive free portion along a portion of an edge of a label. A tear line is provided across the label dividing the label into a first portion which includes the adhesive free portion and a second portion. The first portion overlays the tip of the spout and the second portion overlays the remaining portion of the spout.

  • Patent number: 5033411
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bird feeder which is combined with a container for the bird food. The birdfeed container makes use of a spout, such as may be employed with the common salt dispenser, the spout being mounted for insertion and removal of the "bottom" of the bird food container. The container may take the form of a closed container, such as normally found in the familiar salt dispenser. The bird feeder has a basin which is disposed vertically below the spout. The basin is connected to the bird food container. Flow of bird food from the spout to the basin is stopped automatically by the bird food when the bird food reaches a selected level. A perch in the form of a dowel or stick is passed through holes in the wings of the spout to provide a perch for the feeding bird.

  • Patent number: 4806055
Abstract: A machine for inserting pouring spouts in caps, provides for feeding the caps to an indexing work table through an inlet apparatus which coordinates the position of the caps with the position of the indexing table. Mounting apparatus is provided to mount the caps on the indexing work table, which table moves the caps in a coordinated sequence to work positions where the pouring spouts are inserted in the caps. The indexing work table then moves the caps to an outlet position where ejecting apparatus removes the caps with the inserted spouts from the indexing work table, the pouring spouts on the caps are placed in the desired position and the caps are properly oriented as the caps leave the area of the spout inserting machine. A pneumatic assembly provides for the delivery of the container tops to the indexing table and for transfer of the container tops with the inserted spouts away from the indexing work table.

  • Patent number: 4072117
Abstract: A machine for inserting a pouring spout at a precise, predetermined position on a canister wall, which machine consists of a first holding means that releasably holds a canister on a carriage that moves in a discontinuous manner through a series of work stations. At one of the work stations, the canister is temporarily released by the first holding means and captured by second holding means associated with a turntable that is rotatably positioned by means responsive to a control signal generated from scanning means at the work station, which sense the position of an indexing mark on the canister. After the turntable and the canister are positioned, the canister is released by the second holding means and carried by an elevator back to the carriage where the canister is held in the indexed position by the first holding means and continues through the remainder of the work stations.
