Publication number: 20120049409Abstract: A method for manufacturing a gasket that is reinforced by a metal band, which is completely encapsulated within the elastomeric material of the gasket. The metal band is formed with spaced-apart dimples stamped into its inner surface, causing raised projections to form on the outer surface of the metal band. When the metal band is placed in a mold, the raised projections on its outer surface cause the metal band to be spaced apart from the inner wall of the mold. Elastomeric material is then injected into the mold and is able to completely encapsulate the metal band. The gasket is cured and then removed from the mold.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 2010Publication date: March 1, 2012Applicant: Max Seal, Inc.Inventor: Samuel Guzowski

Patent number: 8118519Abstract: A grout and lifting tube for casting within a concrete segment. The tube provides enhanced sealing between the tube and the concrete to prevent moisture leakage into a structure formed by a plurality of the concrete segments. The tube includes a generally cylindrical body having an exterior with an anchoring rib structure, a threaded interior, a proximal end, a distal end. An annular gasket is disposed at the proximal end of the tube body, and may be secured to the proximal end of the tube body by a mechanical interlock and/or by unitary co-molding. After the concrete section is placed and grout is pumped through the tube, a plug is threadable into the proximal end of the tube to both compress the gasket between the plug and the tube at a first seal, and to compress the gasket between the plug and the concrete surrounding the proximal end of the tube at a second seal to provide robust, watertight sealing.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2008Date of Patent: February 21, 2012Assignee: Press-Seal Gasket CorporationInventors: Andrew J. Patent number: 8104772Abstract: A seal for containment of fluids or gases during high temperature applications, separating a high pressure area on one side from a low pressure area on an opposite side, and formed to convert axial displacements into radial movements eliminating axial strains, having at least one engaging, conical ring structure with a tapering arcuate side facing radially away from the high pressure side. The conical ring structure has a side opposite the tapering side that is cylindrical, and a cylindrical diameter that is concentric with the arcuate side. The conical ring structure has an axial distal end with a larger diameter than its opposite end for engaging a flat annular surface on an adjacent structural member to form the seal. A heat-destructible wax spacer may be used for insertion within the clearance gap to locate the seal concentrically with the gland for ease of assembly.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2009Date of Patent: January 31, 2012Assignee: Seal Science & Technology, LLCInventor: Horace P. Patent number: 8104769Abstract: A liquid and gas tight bi-directional metal frustro-conical seal is energized by compression between planar, annular faces causing its inner and outer diameters to sealingly engage opposing cylindrical surfaces of inner and outer metal pipes. The contact forces between the concentric sealing surfaces are high in order to locally deform the softer metal and eliminate leakage paths. The sealing ring is backed-up by a similar ring that is reduced in cross-sectional width, such that when compressed the ring does not engage the inner and outer cylindrical surfaces. The second ring is nested with and directly below the sealing ring, and equally axially compressed when the joint is assembled. When the pipe joints are disassembled, the second ring serves to restore the seal ring to its original, deeper frustro-conical shape, allowing the pipe joints to be easily separated for reuse of the piping in a different location.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2009Date of Patent: January 31, 2012Assignee: Seal Science & Technology, LLCInventor: Horace P. Patent number: 8096842Abstract: A connector assembly is provided for connecting two planar surfaces or structures together to permit electrical transmission between the two. As described, the connector have at least two housing sections having grooves formed therein for receiving springs, such as canted coil springs. The springs are configured to provide constant mechanical and electrical connection between multiple parts and allow for small motions between such parts. By allowing for movement of the connected parts, adequate connection during thermal changes and/or vibrations is maintained. This is possible due to the spring contact interface between the connector assembly and the connecting parts, which allows relative movement between the springs and the connecting parts.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2010Date of Patent: January 17, 2012Assignee: Bal Seal Engineering, Inc.Inventors: Daniel Poon, Kyle Smith

Publication number: 20120007315Abstract: An expansion ring assembly seals a gasket with respect to an annular wall of a rigid structure. The expansion ring assembly includes two arcuate expansion ring bands that cooperate to define a generally circular profile. At one side of the expansion ring assembly, a first pair of ends of the expansion ring bands overlap and include a ratcheting mechanism which allows the ring to incrementally expand but not to contract. At another location of the expansion ring assembly, a second pair of ends are joined by a drive mechanism for engaging and driving apart the opposing ends of an expansion ring to thereby non-incrementally expand the ring. The ratchet mechanism may be used to initially set and hold the expansion ring against a gasket in a desired position and to provide an initial expansion pressure, i.e., for a coarse adjustment. The drive mechanism may then be used to provide a final expansion pressure of the gasket, i.e., for a fine adjustment.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2011Publication date: January 12, 2012Applicant: PRESS-SEAL GASKET CORPORATIONInventor: Myron S.
