Publication number: 20120267934Abstract: A one piece integrally formed moulded plastic chair (11) is disclosed having a seat (2), backrest (3) and legs (4-7). A U-shaped rib (19) extends between the upper regions of the rear legs (6, 7) to cross-brace same. A gap (24) is proved between the cross piece (20) of the rib (19) and the underside of the seat (2). In use the seat (2) deforms to reduce the size of the gap (24) under the weight of a sitter. This deformation thereby provides a more comfortable seat.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2011Publication date: October 25, 2012Applicant: SEBEL FURNITURE LTDInventor: Michael Andrew FEWCHUK

Publication number: 20120017810Abstract: A school desk top or table top (31) is disclosed having a buffer (37, 47) extending around its perpendicular side edge and formed by injection moulding. The front edge (42, 52) and rear edge (43, 53) of the desk have a curved buffer (37) to avoid a sharp edge on which a student's forearm might rest. However, the side edges (41, 54) have a substantially flat buffer (47) to enable two like desks (40, 50) to be edge abutted and thereby provide a substantially continuous flat working surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2010Publication date: January 26, 2012Applicant: SEBEL FURNITURE LTDInventor: Gregory Brent Welsh

Publication number: 20110193393Abstract: A backrest for a seat is disclosed having a first plurality of forwardly facing openings 8 arranged in an array 7 and second plurality of protrusions 10 arranged in a second array 9. The arrays are rectangular with substantially equal spacing so that the openings and protrusions are inter-mingled. The arrangement reduces solar heating of the unoccupied seat and allows air flow and perspiration drainage of the occupied seat.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2011Publication date: August 11, 2011Applicant: SEBEL FURNITURE LTDInventor: Gregory Brent WELSH

A moulded plastics article and a method of fabricating a moulded plastics article are also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2010Publication date: January 27, 2011Applicant: SEBEL FURNITURE LTDInventor: Gregory Brent WELSH

Patent number: 4733910Abstract: The present invention discloses a chair having a seat and a backrest which is hinged to the seat by a resilient hinge. The hinge is substantially moulded together with the shell formed by the seat and backrest. The degree of flexure of the backrest exceeds any flexure of prior art. One piece plastic shells and stops are preferably provided to limit the degree of flexure of the hinge. Moulding the hinge with the shell substantially reduces costs.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1986Date of Patent: March 29, 1988Assignee: Sebel Furniture Ltd.Inventor: James W. Brennan
