Abstract: A data communication system adaptable to a ciphered data communication includes a data transmission line (3) for transmitting ciphered or non-ciphered data between a data transmitting device and a data receiving device 11, a data transmitting device (1) for transmitting data, a data receiving device (5) for receiving data transmitted through the data transmitting device, a data ciphering apparatus (2) on the side of the data transmitting device, and a data deciphering apparatus (4) on the side of the data receiving device. The data ciphering apparatus including switching device (2A), line condition detector device (2B) control code monitor, scrambling device (2E), and drive control (2D). The line condition detector device, the control code monitor, and the scrambling device supply the transmission line through the switching device with ciphered data of the data from the data transmitting device.
Abstract: At least a set of two spatial filters are so arranged in a two-dimensional space or three-dimensional space that their spatial distributions are opposite to each other. Two systems of light detection signals from a moving object are synchronously collected through the spatial filters, integrated, and photoelectrically converted into time-series electrical signals. The electric signals are processed according to a predetermined algorithm. A result of the process is judged as positive or negative to find the direction of a velocity of the object. The magnitude of the velocity is found from the two systems of light detection signals according to a known equation. Instead of oppositely arranging the spatial distributions of the two spatial filters, at least one differential spatial filter system may be employed to provide light detection signals corresponding to those provided by the oppositely arranged spatial filters.
Abstract: In an apparatus for detecting a pattern of crest lines according to the present invention, an object area to be treated is mechanically divided into a plurality of picture elements (Ej), and the direction of crest lines such as a dactylogram can be easily detected by a simple calculation consisting of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, by using evaluated shading values in a series (Si) of picture elements, each unit area (UA) consisting of some picture elements of all picture elements in the object area. Therefore, even when the crest lines are cut off, crushed, or branched off, on the way thereof, the direction of the crest lines can be correctly detected.
Abstract: An automatic fire extinguishing apparatus including a fire sensor, a swivel chamber and an expansible hollow rod secured to the chamber. When a fire is detected by the fire sensor, the swivel chamber is rotated about a vertical axis in accordance with the output of the fire sensor until the rod is directed to the fire source. Then a pressurized fire extinguishing agent contained in a bomb is introduced into the rod through the chamber to expand the rod toward the fire source. The expansion of the rod is stopped when the end of the rod is adjacent the fire source and the free end of the rod is opened, so that the fire extinguishing agent is discharged toward the fire source.

Abstract: An ultrasonic surveillance system which emits pulse-like ultrasonic waves to an area under surveillance, which statistically compares a reflected-wave pattern established by receiving ultrasonic waves reflected from the under surveillance with a predetermined reference pattern, and which produces an alarm signal when these two patterns are not in agreement. According to this system, the alarm signal is prevented from being erroneously produced by ultrasonic noises.
