  • Patent number: 9728054
Abstract: Security systems and methods configured for use with an item of merchandise for retail display include a housing, at least one sensor carried by the housing and at least one output device carried by the housing. The security system further includes a controller carried by the housing and operably coupled to the sensor and to the output device. The controller is operable to determine a distance traveled by the item of merchandise from a retail display “home” position based upon a sensor input from the sensor, and to activate the output device based upon the distance traveled by the item of merchandise exceeding a threshold distance. The controller may utilize the at least one sensor in conjunction with an inertial navigation system (INS) and motion processing algorithms or techniques to determine the distance traveled by the item of merchandise from the retail display “home” position.

  • Patent number: 9722798
Abstract: A method for signing and subsequently verifying a digital message, including the following steps implemented using at least one processor-based subsystem: selecting parameters including an integer q and a relatively smaller integer p that is coprime with q; generating random polynomial f relating to p and random polynomial g relating to q; producing a public key that includes h, where h is equal to a product that can be derived using g and the inverse of f mod q; producing a private key from which f and g can be derived; storing the private key and publishing the public key; producing a message digest by applying a hash function to the digital message; producing a digital signature using the message digest and the private key; and performing a verification procedure utilizing the digital signature and the public key to determine whether the signature is valid.

  • Patent number: 9708773
Abstract: The invention generally relates to a security sheet or document having one or more enhanced watermarks. In one exemplary embodiment, the inventive security sheet or document is a single-ply paper that is made up of a paper layer including one or more watermarks, and a micro-optic security device (e.g., a patch or thread) that at least partially covers an upper or face portion of the watermark(s). The overlying patch or thread increases the durability of the watermark(s), thereby allowing for the watermark(s) as well as reduced fiber density areas therein to be made larger, and further allowing for the reduced fiber density areas to be made thinner. In a preferred embodiment, the micro-optic security device projects one or more synthetic images that coordinate or link in with the watermark design(s). In a more preferred embodiment, the micro-optic security device offers a machine detectable/readable feature in the form of enhanced IR-brightness, especially when measured in transmission.

  • Patent number: 9691245
Abstract: The present invention is directed to providing a method and system that enables a first responder police Incident Commander to take command and control of a building having an active suspect ongoing event. Using the method and system herein, the Police Incident Commander is able to clearly distinguish the positions of his building entry teams (BETs) in the building relative to the position of the suspect through a graphic display of Friend and Foe designation whereupon he can precisely direct their maneuver to close with the suspect. The incident commander communicates to a Command and Control Center to arm non-lethal chemical canisters pre-located in “Hot Zones” for use in remotely incapacitating the intruders. When the intruders, boxed in by the BETs, enter a “Hot Zone” the incident commander gives the command to release the non-lethal chemical/smoke, ammonia spray that disorients and blinds the intruders allowing the BETs to safely end the incident.

  • Patent number: 9686417
Abstract: A device includes one or more processor, a display, and a module card. The one or more processor determines that a communication function of the device has terminated and sends a notification to the module card that indicates the termination. The module card sends a message to a server in response to receiving the notification and receives another message from the server. The message indicates that the device is ready to receive the other message. The other message includes an instruction and another notification, which is based on usage of an account and identifies an actionable category with respect thereto. The instruction causes the one or more processor to function as display, receiving, determining, and sending devices, which respectively display the other notification, receive an input response thereto, determine that the response corresponds to a confirmation to implement the actionable category, and send a further message including the response.

  • Patent number: 9659472
Abstract: A programmable security system and method for protecting an item of merchandise includes a programming station, a programmable key and a security system. The programming station generates a security code and communicates the security code to a memory of the programmable key. The programmable key initially communicates the security code to a memory of the security device and subsequently operates the security device upon a matching of the security code in the memory of the security device with the security code in the memory of the programmable key. The programmable key may also transfer power via electrical contacts or inductive transfer from an internal battery to the security device to operate a lock mechanism. The security code may be communicated by wireless infrared (IR) systems, electrical contacts or inductive transfer. A timer inactivates the programmable key and/or the security device after a predetermined period of time.

  • Patent number: 9647709
Abstract: A data carrier including a SIM card may be converted into a cradle to support a mobile communications device after the SIM card is removed and inserted into the device. The card body includes first, second, and third manipulation lines extending across the card body. The card body may be manipulated about these manipulation lines to form a stand and cradle comprising a first support portion to support a rear surface of the mobile communications device, a second support portion mobile to support a side surface of the mobile communications device, and a lip portion that secures the mobile communications device within the cradle. The lip portion is shorter in length than either the first or second support portions to limit obstruction of a display for the mobile communications device when disposed within the cradle to facilitate viewing of the display.

  • Publication number: 20170118214
Abstract: Various techniques for allowing non-secured clients to access secured data of an enterprise from a public network without compromising security integrity of the enterprise are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a server, referred to as an interface server, is designated to interface with non-secured clients and coupled between a private network and a public network. The server can be one of local servers in a security system employed in an enterprise. In certain respect, the interface server is analogously placed in a “Demilitarized Zone”, hence also referred to as a DMZ server. Through the DMZ server, some of the secured data in the enterprise can be accessed by the non-secured clients without compromising the security integrity of the enterprise.

  • Publication number: 20170109950
Abstract: A security system is provided that integrates physical and logical security controls for the protection of secured resources. The resources may include physical locations and/or computing resources such as databases containing personal information. In some embodiments, information is stored in separate, codependent databases such that by isolating the components of the databases from each other, a successful attack on one component is not sufficient to enable the access of content of the other components. In some embodiments, biometric information is automatically obtained as users approach an access location, and is ready for expedited verification of identity upon request by the user.
