Publication number: 20070289344Abstract: A lock mechanism is mounted on a pair of vertically spaced merchandise display rods to prevent removal of items of merchandise supported on the lower rod. The lock mechanism includes a housing having a internal lock chamber and a pair of upper and lower slots, each receiving one of the rods therethrough. The lower slot has a side opening enabling the lower rod to pass out of the housing when the housing is pivotally moved on the upper rod to an unlocked open position. A bayonet is slidably moveable in the chamber of the housing and has an elongated slot through which both of the rods extend. A locking device has a magnetically attractable locking tine which locks the housing and bayonet in a closed locked position on the pair of rods. A magnetic key moves the tine to an unlocked position enabling the housing and bayonet to move to an unlocked open position exposing the side opening of the housing lower slot for removing the housing out of engagement with the lower rod.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2007Publication date: December 20, 2007Applicant: Alpha Security Products, Inc.Inventors: Christopher J. Patent number: 7303095Abstract: A dispenser for items of merchandise is formed as a wire rack having an entrance opening for placing the items into the dispenser and a discharge opening for removal of the items from the dispenser by a customer. A pivotally moveable gate located adjacent the discharge opening permits removal of the items one at a time, with a time delay being required between the removal of each of the items to retard shoplifting. The gate also produces an audible sound when moving toward the open position to further reduce possible shoplifting.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2004Date of Patent: December 4, 2007Assignee: Alpha Security Products, Inc.Inventors: Keith C. Publication number: 20070260880Abstract: Managing and controlling the execution of software programs with a computing device to protect the computing device from malicious activities. A protector system implements a two-step process to ensure that software programs do not perform malicious activities which may damage the computing device or other computing resources to which the device is coupled. In the first phase, the protector system determines whether a software program has been previously approved and validates that the software program has not been altered. If the software program is validated during the first phase, this will minimize or eliminate security monitoring operations while the software program is executing during the second phase. If the software program cannot be validated, the protector system enters the second phase and detects and observes executing activities at the kernel level of the operating system so that suspicious actions can be anticipated and addressed before they are able to do harm to the computing device.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2007Publication date: November 8, 2007Applicant: Internet Security Systems, Inc.Inventors: Thomas Satterlee, William Hackenberger

Patent number: 7289023Abstract: The present invention comprises systems and methods for addressing exceptions (i.e., alarms) associated with a guard tour according to a predefined hierarchy. The exception is generated automatically based on data associated with the guard tour, as typically collected by an ETTS. The present invention receives tour data, and based upon predefined customer preferences and current conditions, generates a procedure to be followed to optimally resolve the exception. An exemplary exception is one based on the time interval between checkpoints. If, for example, the time interval is outside of a predetermined range, then an exception may be generated.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2005Date of Patent: October 30, 2007Assignee: U.S. Security Associates, Inc.Inventors: Charles R. Publication number: 20070248364Abstract: A latent image is incorporated into an apparent solid-color background for representing a desired solid-color background having a target color. An underlying solid-color background is printed on a print medium using a first color composition that differs from the target color. Line-screen patterns embedding a latent image in a visually integrated setting are printed over the solid-color background using a second color composition that differs from both the first color composition and the target color. The visual characteristics of the line-screen patterns forming the latent image and the visually integrated setting are matched for rendering the latent image practically indistinguishable from the visually integrated setting without a visual aid. The print densities of the line-screen patterns and the first and second color compositions are interrelated so that the line-screen patterns in combination with the underlying solid-color background produce the apparent solid-color background in the target color.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2007Publication date: October 25, 2007Applicant: Document Security Systems, Inc.Inventors: David WICKER, Michael CATON

Patent number: 7286048Abstract: The present invention comprises systems and methods for addressing exceptions (i.e., alarms) associated with a guard tour according to a predefined hierarchy. The exception is generated automatically based on data associated with the guard tour, as typicdally collected by an ETTS. The present invention receives tour data, and based upon predefined customer preferences and current conditions, generates a procedure to be followed to optimally resolve the exception, typically based on to various parameters, including customer, exception type, day, date, and time of day. In response to an exception, a contact list is generated, the contact list being associated with one or more of the parameters. Based on the nature of the exception, the present invention has the ability to prevent an operator from clearing the exception until it has been resolved in a predefined manner.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2003Date of Patent: October 23, 2007Assignee: U.S. Security Associates, Inc.Inventor: Wesley C. Patent number: 7281309Abstract: An explosion resistant waste container (10) includes an outer open-topped container (16). The outer open-topped container (16) is sized to receive an inner open-topped container (12) and leave a space therebetween. Both the outer open-topped container (16) and the inner open-topped container (12) are cylinders made of sufficiently strong materials, e.g. 11 gauge steel, for withstanding the forces of an explosion. A reinforcing material (14), e.g. reinforced concrete, is disposed within the space between the outer open-topped container (16) and the inner open-topped container (12). The outer open-topped container (16) and the reinforcing material (14) reinforce the inner open-topped container (12) so as to provide greater resistance to deformation caused by explosions and to shield surrounding persons and property from the explosive forces.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2004Date of Patent: October 16, 2007Assignee: Master Lite Security Products, IncInventor: Herbert W.
