Abstract: An improved combination hand weight and expandable baton is provided. The baton is adjustable for length and weight. The baton includes a handle section which is preferably a hollow cylindrical tube and at least one telescoping section capable of being contained within the handle section. The baton is provided with a removable end cap which has a tapered inner surface that captures a flared end portion of the interior telescoping section to provide a tight taper joint when the baton is in an expanded position. By providing different end caps, any number of intermediate telescoping sections may be placed within the handle section to vary both the weight and the expandable length of the baton.
