  • Patent number: 12577523
Abstract: Systems and methods for producing ammonium nitrate are disclosed herein. Exemplary systems can comprise a bioreactor positioned to receive a feed including ammonia. The bioreactor can hold a liquid solution including (i) an ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and (ii) a nitrite oxidizing bacteria (NOB). The AOB can facilitate oxidation of the ammonia to produce a nitrite at a nitritation rate and the NOB can facilitate oxidation of the nitrite at a nitratation rate. Thus, the bioreactor can produce a mixed liquor comprising a nitrate biologically. The system can further comprise a filter positioned to receive the mixed liquor and produce a permeate and a sludge. A sensor can measure the concentration of the liquid solution of the bioreactor, and a controller coupled to the sensor can regulate the mass flow of nitrogen and/or phosphorus of the bioreactor feed based on the measured concentration of the liquid solution.

  • Patent number: 12467687
Abstract: A multi-functional slurry processing system (“VARCOR”) and associated methods is disclosed. The present examples provide a multi-functional slurry processing system incorporating systems and methods for separating liquid and solid components in slurries. In particular the systems and methods described herein produce clean water, dried solids, and potential concentration of desirable constituents with a boiling point lower than water. At least one example of the multi-functional slurry processing system provides a self-contained processing facility configured to efficiently convert high water-content slurries into its constituent solid and liquid fractions and subsequently generating and collecting clean water and concentrating desirable constituents with a boiling point lower than water.

  • Patent number: 11141029
Abstract: A waste burning toilet may operate on power generated from burning waste deposited in the toilet without connection to external electricity, a sewer, or water supply. A dryer connected to the toiled dries the waste prior to burning. The waste may be burnt in a firebox that is connected to the dryer. Heat from the firebox may be used to generate electricity that can power the components of the toilet system. The waste may be reduced to sterile ash.
