Patent number: 11471628Abstract: A system and accompanying assembly, of integrated or modular construction, for inflating and monitoring pressure within a retaining cuff including a housing having a pressure chamber connected in fluid communication with a fluid pressure source and a fluid communicating connection with the retaining cuff. Associated control circuitry includes a pressure sensor disposable in fluid communication with the pressure chamber and the retaining cuff, via the fluid communicating connection and structured to concurrently determine and monitor pressure within the pressure chamber and the retaining cuff. The control circuitry is cooperatively structured with the pressure sensor and other operative components to establish dynamic multilevel sampling capabilities, calibration parameters stored within the control circuitry prior to use and limited or single use capabilities of the assembly.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2019Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: Seedlings Life Science Ventures, LLCInventors: Stephen Jay Lowenstein, Keith Rubin, Ken Solovay, Timothy Vandermey, Klaus Lessnau, Michael R. Patent number: 8550078Abstract: An assembly structured to inflate a retaining or pressure cuff associated with an artificial airway tube such as an endotracheal and/or tracheotomy tube and concurrently monitor pressure therein including a casing having an interior pressure chamber. A pump assembly is movably connected to the casing and structured to force fluid flow to the retaining cuff through said pressure chamber. An indicator member is disposed within the casing, is visually accessible through casing window, and is variably positionable dependent on and indicative of existing pressure within the retaining cuff. The existing pressure within the pressure chamber is substantially equivalent to that within the retaining cuff thereby facilitating the variable position of the indicator member to indicate pressure within the cuff. A junction is disposed between the casing and an inflation lumen to the restraining cuff and is structured to allow disconnection between the casing and the lumen but prevent reconnection thereto.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2010Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: Seedlings Life Science Ventures, LLC.Inventors: Stephen Jay Lowenstein, Michael R. Patent number: 8403583Abstract: An assembly structured to clean the head portion of a stethoscope comprising a housing including a path of travel along which the head portion passes during cleaning. A supply of cleaning fluid associated with a dispenser assembly is cooperatively disposed relative to an activating assembly. The activating assembly is operated in moveable engagement with the head portion, and activates the dispenser assembly when engaged by the head portion as it passes along the path of travel. The dispenser assembly delivers the cleaning fluid to an applicator assembly which distributes the cleaning fluid to the head portion and facilitates the cleaning thereof and removal of excess cleaning fluid there from. At least one disinfectant agent is dispersed within or comprises a portion of the housing and is formulated to be destructively effective against pathogenic bacteria, such as in the spore form, which is generally not affected by the cleaning fluid.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2011Date of Patent: March 26, 2013Assignee: Seedlings Life Science Ventures, LLC.Inventors: Michael Perlman, James M. Patent number: 8393818Abstract: An assembly structured to restrict contamination of individuals from association with the heads of stethoscope comprising a housing including a path of travel along which the head portion passes. Different embodiments include the dispensing of cleaning fluid or the delivery of protective barriers onto predetermined portions of the stethoscope heads, while passing along the path of travel. A dispenser assembly and a cooperatively disposed activating assembly are manually operated by moveable, driving engagement with the head portion passing through the housing. The activating assembly is thereby operatively positioned to activate the dispenser assembly when engaged by a head passing along the path of travel. Differently structured dispenser assemblies function to either deliver the cleaning fluid or individually dispense the barriers onto different heads, so as to either facilitate the cleaning or protective covering of exposed surfaces of the stethoscope heads, dependent on the embodiment utilized.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2011Date of Patent: March 12, 2013Assignee: Seedlings Life Science Ventures, LLC.Inventors: Michael Perlman, James M. Patent number: 6979316Abstract: An auto-injector for rapid delivery of a bolus of injectable medication has a generally flat, sealed housing with small peripheral dimensions, approximating those of a credit card. A syringe, configured to be contained within the flat housing is pre-filled with the medication. The housing contains a mechanism that, when triggered, automatically drives the syringe and needle forwardly to an injection position and then continues to compress the volume of the syringe to effect rapid injection. The forward injection end of the device includes an actuator that also conceals and protects the needle at all times and, prevents post-injection hazards. The flat faces of the device have graphic symbols and other visual indicia relating to the operation and condition of the device. The device enables a simple three-step operation that reduces the risk of improper use.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2002Date of Patent: December 27, 2005Assignee: Seedlings Life Science Ventures LLCInventors: Keith H. Patent number: 6863654Abstract: A method of identifying a patient's urethral anatomic course for the precise placement of a treatment element into the patient's prostate, wherein a catheter containing an imaging bladder is introduced into a urethra until it is generally aligned with a treatment site of the prostate. An imaging probe is positioned relative to the treatment site and the urethra and is activated to obtain a real time image of the treatment site. The bladder is filled to define an acoustic interface between its interior and the urethral wall. A boundary of the urethra is identified at the acoustic interface during placement of the treatment element to position it relative to the urethra. A urethral identification system includes a catheter having the bladder spaced from the tip thereof and inflated allowing the bladder to contact the urethral wall and define the acoustic interface that is visible utilizing an ultrasound imaging device.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2003Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignee: Seedlings Life Science Ventures, LLC.Inventors: Stephen M.
