Abstract: Provided is a method and system for monitoring and analysis of networked systems, that is non-intrusive and real time. Both secure and non-secure traffic may be analyzed. The provided method involves non-intrusively copying data from a communication medium, reconstructing this data to a higher level of communication, such as the application level, grouping the data into sets, each set representing a session, and organizing the data for chosen sessions in hierarchical fashion which corresponds to the hierarchy of the communicated information. If monitored communications are encrypted, they are non-intrusively decrypted in real time. Hierarchically reconstructed session data is used by one or more plug-in applications, such as alarms, archival applications, visualization applications, script generation applications, abandonment monitoring applications, error detection applications, performance monitoring applications, and others.

  • Publication number: 20040199571
Abstract: A method for facilitating network communications from one or more independent execution threads by a dedicated worker thread. Because an operating system is not designed for use with a large number of threads, such a system requires the use of multiple computers for simulating a large number of virtual users. This increases complexity, as well as cost. The present invention reduces the number of threads needed, which reduces resource needs, and in turn increases the number of virtual users that can be simulated. According to the present invention, a worker thread uses non-blocking function calls to efficiently handle requests for network operations.

  • Publication number: 20020128976
Abstract: Method and system for discrete soft handoff of a mobile terminal in a wireless CDMA network. A plurality of mobile terminal-base station channels used for soft handoff are reserved to perform soft handoff of a mobile terminal. Soft handoff of the mobile terminal is then performed in a discrete fashion by first predicting which of the reserved channels will be “strong” and “weak” channels for transmission of the next CDMA data frame. At least one of the strong channels is included in the active set of handoff legs used to transmit the next CDMA data frame. The next data frame is then transmitted via only those channels within the active set. This process repeats, wherein the strong and weak channels are predicted prior to the transmission of each CDMA data frame, at least one strong channel is included in the active set for each CDMA data frame, and each CDMA data frame is transmitted via those channels in the active set.

  • Patent number: 5781720
Abstract: A method for automated testing of both new and revised computer application programs which use a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Simulated user events such as keyboard or mouse actions are automatically input into the GUI interface. The GUI is then monitored to observes the changes to the GUI in response to the input. The invention comprises a test script which is written in a high level programming language, a test executive which executes the test script, and a test driver which provides the interface to the GUI. The test script is directed towards operation on logical objects, instead of GUI-specific references. The primary responsibility of the test executive is to convert GUI-independent references into GUI-specific references. The test driver takes the GUI-specific references from the test executive and performs the actual interface to the GUI objects.
