Patent number: 4921754Abstract: A pavement marking sheet material of an improved durability comprises a laminate of a base layer containing unvulcanized synthetic rubber as a main ingredient and a colored layer of unvulcanized synthetic rubber containing a coloring agent and glass microspheres dispersed over the suface of the colored layer. The lower portions of the microspheres are embedded in the base layer and the remaining surfaces of the microspheres and the surface of the laminate are covered integrally with a surface layer of a thin film consisting of a transparent and colorless synthetic resin. The glass microspheres are prevented from coming off by the cooperation between the three layers and wear of the sheet itself is substantially reduced.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 1985Date of Patent: May 1, 1990Assignee: Seibu Polymer Kasei Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Yuji Ishihara

Patent number: 4824516Abstract: A pavement-marking tape applicator comprises a carrier which has at least one wheel and an application roller and moves along a paved surface on which a pavement-marking tape is to be applied. A roll of pavement-marking tape is unwindably supported on the carrier. A pair of free end position adjusting rollers are mounted on the carrier for holding the unwound tape at such a position that the tape hangs in front of the application roller. The free end position adjusting rollers are capable of finely adjusting the free end position of the tape. A drive mechanism for manually or electrically rotating these free end position adjusting rollers is provided. In one aspect of the invention the pavement-marking tape applicator comprises a cutter mounted on the carrier for cutting the tape after completion of application of the tape on the paved surface.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1986Date of Patent: April 25, 1989Assignee: Seibu Polymer Kasei Kabushiki KaishasInventors: Yuji Ishihara, Akio Yamasaki

Patent number: 4751140Abstract: In a high-brightness pavement marking sheet material, a continuous pattern of a multiplicity of protuberances and depressions is formed on the surface of a base sheet made of rubber, synthetic resin or the like and that glass microspheres are embedded in these protuberances and depressions in such a manner that a depth of embedding of these glass microspheres in the base sheet from the surface is randomly different one from another and a majority of the glass microspheres in these protuberances and depressions are partially exposed from the surface of the base sheet. An excellent initial brightness is obtained and brightness at a high level is continuously maintained despite wear of the base sheet.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1985Date of Patent: June 14, 1988Assignee: Seibu Polymer Kasei Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Yuji Ishihara

Patent number: 4711501Abstract: A rock crushing device according to the present invention is designed to crush rocks by the use of the expansion pressure generated when an elastic expandable member of a cylindrical configuration is expanded by pressure fluid to be injected into looped pockets provided within the elastic member. The elastic member, made of rubber or similar materials, is provided tightly to cover around a metal shaft having a fluid passage to introduce pressure fluid into the looped pockets of the elastic member.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1985Date of Patent: December 8, 1987Assignees: Okumura Machinery Corporation, Seibu Polymer Kasei Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Akiya Maeda, Mituya Sakai, Yukinobu Masaka, Masahiro Nomura, Yasuo Yamada, Tetsuro Tatsuhama

Patent number: 4653854Abstract: A reflex-reflecting sheeting of a type having on the surface of the sheeting many isolated small compartments which are respectively hermetically sealed in the form of cells is characterized in the structure in which a support film comprises an upper layer which is in contact with glass beads and a lower layer disposed on the opposite side and having larger cohesive force and rubbery elasticity than the upper layer, and a protective film made of a substantially unoriented resin. The sheeting thus constructed exhibits strong resistance against separation of the protective film and the support film even under high temperature and humidity.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1985Date of Patent: March 31, 1987Assignee: Seibu Polymer Kasei Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Nobuhiro Miyata

Patent number: 4221502Abstract: The present invention relates to a flexible joint to be inserted between culvert sections. In a culvert joint which consists of anchor members attached to the opposing culvert sections, a flexible member extending between said anchor members and a large number of strengthening members arranged in parallel at the internal and external positions of said flexible member, said strengthening members being classified into one with projections and one with holes to regulate the distance between them; the projections of said member with projections fit into the holes of said member with holes to overlap each other, thereby regulating the distance between them to follow an expansion and contraction or an uneven subsidence of the culvert and therefore, bearing earth pressure sufficiently.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1979Date of Patent: September 9, 1980Assignee: Seibu Polymer Kasei Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Takayoshi Tanikawa
