  • Publication number: 20060051552
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a mold for molding, a molding method, and a molding machine in which generation of burrs on a disc substrate can be prevented to thereby enhance quality of the disc substrate, as well as a disc substrate molded by the same. The mold for molding includes a mirror-surface disc (16); a stamper (29) having a hole formed at its center, and attached to the front end surface of the mirror-surface disc (16); and an inner holder (60) for holding the stamper (29) by means of press fit into the hole. In the course of the press fit, at least either the stamper (29) or the inner holder (60) is subjected to stress in excess of its yield point and plastically deformed. In this case, the inner holder (60) is press-fitted into the hole of the stamper (29) to thereby hold the stamper (29), thereby eliminating need to form a holding portion at the outer circumferential edge of the front end of the inner holder (60).

  • Patent number: 7001080
Abstract: An end face polishing method provides an end face polishing apparatus having a main body, a jig board mounted on the main body and supporting at least one workpiece, a polishing board mounted on the main body for undergoing rotational and revolving movements relative to the main body, and abrasive members each removably connectable to the polishing board for rotational and revolving movements therewith. Each of the abrasive members has an abrasive surface with a hardness that is either higher or lower than the hardness of the abrasive surface of the others of the abrasive members. An end face of a workpiece is successively brought into pressure contact with the abrasive surface of each of the abrasive members in descending order of hardness of the abrasive surfaces while rotating and revolving the polishing board to thereby successively polish the end face of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6920276
Abstract: An optical fiber assembly having a hermetic seal portion includes a optical fiber assembly and a metal pipe. The optical fiber assembly includes a metallized portion where a portion exposed by peeling off a resin coating of the optical fiber assembly is coated with metal. The metal pipe includes a feedthrough hole, an uncovered portion, a brazed portion and an adhesive-fixed portion. The feedthrough hole has a length necessary to cover a part of the metallized portion and a part of the coated portion leading to one end of the metallized portion. The uncovered portion has a housing groove leading to the feedthrough hole and contains a remainder of the metallized portion and a part of the coated portion leading to the other end of the metallized portion. The brazed portion hermetically seals the optical fiber assembly to the metal pipe by brazing the metallized portion and the inner surface of the feedthrough hole near a slanted upward opening of the feedthrough hole on the housing groove side.

  • Publication number: 20050133062
Abstract: A connecting end face cleaning tool having superior cleaning properties includes a cleaning fabric. This cleaning tool removes soiling attached to the connecting end face of an optical connecting part when that connecting end face is detached. The cleaning fabric is constructed such that the woof threads protrude from the surface of the fabric more than the warp threads. The cleaning fabric has a tape-like shape, the lengthwise direction of which is the direction of the extension of the warp threads. Soiling is removed from a connecting end face as the connecting end face and cleaning fabric are moved relatively such that the connecting end face moves transverse to the woof threads of the cleaning fabric. A method of cleaning a connecting end face uses a cleaning fabric with woof threads protruding from the surface of the fabric more than the warp threads and the fabric is moved relative to the connecting end face transverse to the woof threads of the fabric.
