Publication number: 20230106493Abstract: An electric vehicle charger for charging a vehicle has a housing. A holster is fixedly attached to the housing having a latch partition and a plug partition. The plug partition houses a plug latch. A plug having a male charging connector is inserted into the hosung, where a spring-loaded latch positioned on a male charging connector engages and disengages the plug latch. The plug partition has a curvature that allows the plug to be inserted into the holster at an angle for engaging the spring-loaded latch with the plug latch. The spring-loaded latch disengages from the plug latch by a radial movement along the path of the curvature.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2021Publication date: April 6, 2023Applicant: SemaConnect Inc.Inventors: Dyutiman Moulik, Rajat Hegde, Ghouse Ali

Patent number: 9783072Abstract: A system and method is provided for creating a redundantly controlled dual electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). A double pole, double throw (DPDT) AC relay is provided on a power input to a low-voltage direct current (LVDC) circuit. The DPDT AC relay switches the AC power to the LVDC circuit automatically from either a LEFT ACV input or RIGHT ACV input such that operation of LVDC circuit remains uninterrupted.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2014Date of Patent: October 10, 2017Assignee: SemaConnect Inc.Inventors: Mahidhar Reddy, Rajesh Kumar, Vince Kayser

Patent number: 9704145Abstract: A system and method is provided for billing transactions associated with an electric vehicle charging station (EVCS). A server may receive a station identifier associated with the EVCS from a computing device. The station identifier may be retrieved by decoding a code at the computing device. The code may include a graphic bit pattern that is configured to be decoded based on an optically captured representation of the code. The server may determine whether the EVCS is legitimate based on the station identifier. The server may provide a signal to the EVCS to initiate charging of a vehicle plugged into the EVCS in response to a determination that the EVCS is legitimate.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2012Date of Patent: July 11, 2017Assignee: SemaConnect, Inc.Inventors: Mahidhar Reddy, Harsha Kollaramajalu, Roman Stanchak

Patent number: 9701213Abstract: A system and method is provided for detecting vehicle proximity in an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). A sensor may be configured to detect a presence of a vehicle within a predetermined distance of the EVSE. A processor may be configured to determine that the vehicle is in proximity of the EVSE in response to the sensor detecting the presence of the vehicle. The processor may be further configured to generate an alert in response to a determination that the vehicle is in proximity of the EVSE.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2016Date of Patent: July 11, 2017Assignee: SemaConnect, Inc.Inventors: Mahidhar Reddy, Harsha Kollaramajalu, Gurdarshan Singh Tiwana, Vincent J. Patent number: 8947247Abstract: A system and method is provided for preventing cable theft in electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). A sensor may be configured to sense a short between at least two components of a cable in the EVSE. A processor may be configured to determine that the cable is being cut in response to the sensing. The processor may be further configured to generate an alert in response to a determination that the cable is being cut.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2012Date of Patent: February 3, 2015Assignee: Semaconnect, Inc.Inventors: Joseph Engel, Vincent J. Publication number: 20140375264Abstract: A system and method is provided for managing energy load associated with a group of electric vehicle supply equipments (EVSEs). A server may determine a total load associated with the group of EVSEs. In response to a determination that the total load exceeds a predefined load limit, the server may generate an adjust load signal that is communicated to one or more EVSEs in the group of EVSEs.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 19, 2013Publication date: December 25, 2014Applicant: SemaConnect, Inc.Inventors: Mahidhar REDDY, Harsha KOLLARAMAJALU, Roman STANCHAK
