Abstract: The invention relates to a non-invasive, simple, inexpensive, quick method to assess embryo competence in vitro by detecting nucleic acid-containing extracellular vesicles in the culture medium of the embryo. The culture medium may be fixed before being stained with propidium iodide and analysed by flow cytometry.

Abstract: Compositions and methods for the prevention, inhibition, and/or treatment of progressive fibrosis present in various fibroproliferative disorders. Embodiments relate to the use of Sigma-1 receptor agonists for use in the treatment of prevention of progressive fibrosis characterized by the over proliferation of ECM producing cells, e.g. myofibroblasts and by the excessive deposition of ECM components in a medical or disease condition. Preferred Sigma-1 agonists are disclosed.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to compositions and methods for the prevention, inhibition, and/or treatment of progressive fibrosis present in various fibroproliferative disorders. In particular, embodiments of the present invention relate to the use of Sigma-1 receptor agonists for use in the treatment or prevention of progressive fibrosis characterized by the overproliferation of ECM producing cells, e.g. myofibroblasts and by the excessive deposition of ECM components in a medical or disease condition. Preferred Sigma-1-receptor agonists are disclosed.

Abstract: The invention relates to method and apparatus for production of gaseous ions from components of a condensed phase sample and analysis thereof, wherein one or more liquid jet(s) is/are directed to the surface of the sample to be investigated, where the impact of the liquid jet on the sample surface produces droplets carrying sample particles which are turned into gaseous ions via the evaporation of liquid or, if desired, by a subsequent ionization after the evaporation and the obtained sample particles are analyzed by a known method.
Abstract: The present invention relates to compounds of general formula (i) having an oxime moiety or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, hydrate or solvate thereof and its use for inhibiting semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase (SSAO), also known as vascular adhesion protein-1 (VAP-1), a pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound or a salt, hydrate or solvate thereof as an active ingredient, a method for the prevention or the treatment of a SSAO/VAP-1 related disease, said diseases including acute or chronic inflammatory diseases, diseases related to carbohydrate metabolism, diabetes-associated complications, diabetic retinopathy and macular oedema, diseases related to adipocyte or smooth muscle dysfunctions, neurodegenerative diseases and vascular diseases.
