Patents Assigned to Senju Sprinkler Company Limited
  • Patent number: 6840329
Abstract: A concealed sprinkler head is mounted above the ceiling of a fire protected zone. The sprinkler head includes a housing within which a valve and other operative parts are contained. A decorative cover plate is secured to the housing to conceal the sprinkler head within the ceiling so that none of the operative parts is visible. The cover assembly includes a thin metallic cover plate made of a heat conductive material such as copper, and a metallic skirt including a cylindrical wall threaded on the housing, an annular flange extending outwardly from one end of the cylindrical wall, and a plurality of tabs extending downwardly from the flange. A plurality of heat insulative elements are disposed between the tabs and the cover plate. A metallic layer is attached to the lower surface of each of the insulative elements. A layer of fusible material is disposed between the metallic layer and the cover plate to secure each of the insulative elements to the cover plate through the metallic layer.

  • Patent number: 6799639
Abstract: A horizontal sidewall sprinkler head includes a tubular body with an inlet opening communicated with a source of water and an outlet opening normally closed by a valve member, and a cylindrical frame connected to the body. A deflector is disposed in the frame and is movable between retracted and extended positions. A thermally responsive assembly is mounted to the frame to urge the valve member in sealing engagement with the outlet opening. The thermally responsive assembly is activated to release the valve member when the ambient temperature exceeds a predetermined value. A deflector guide includes a ring movably disposed within the frame, a pair of parallel struts axially extending from the ring, and a pair of parallel stabilizer arms axially extending from the outer periphery of the ring. The stabilizer arms have a proximal end connected to the ring, a distal end and an elongate intermediate portion extending between the two ends. The intermediate portion has an area less than that of the distal end.

  • Patent number: 6439315
Abstract: A sprinkler head includes a body having one end adapted for connection to a supply of pressurized fluid and the other end closed by a valve element, and a thermally responsive assembly for normally holding the valve element in a closed position and opening the valve element at a preset temperature to cause the pressurized fluid to flow out of the other end of the body. The thermally responsive assembly includes a holder and a fusible alloy contained within the holder and held in place by a plunger. The fusible alloy is free of lead and/or cadmium and includes at least two materials selected from the group consisting of tin, bismuth, indium, zinc, gallium and silver.

  • Patent number: 6098718
Abstract: A horizontal sidewall sprinkler head includes a tubular body with an inlet end adapted to be connected to a source of fire extinguishing liquid, and an opposite, discharge end. The tubular body includes an internal passage extending axially therethrough. The tubular body has an axis extending centrally through the internal passage. A deflector is supported from the tubular body. The deflector includes a plurality of sets of mirror image side tines extending in a direction transverse to the axis of the tubular body. At least one set of side tines are rearwardly angled and diverge from the axis of the tubular body in a direction toward the discharge end of the tubular body. An auxiliary deflector is secured to the tubular body and includes a canopy portion. The canopy portion is located above the primary deflector and inclined downwardly with respect to the axis of the tubular body.

  • Patent number: 5924492
Abstract: A sprinkler head includes a nozzle through which water is discharged to extinguish fire. The nozzle is normally held in a closed position. The nozzle is opened in the event of fire. A leaf spring is provided to hold the nozzle in its closed position and permit the nozzle to open. The leaf spring is deformed both in the axial direction of the sprinkler head and in a direction at right angles to the axial direction when an axial force is applied. Furthermore, the leaf spring and is resiliently returned to its original shape when the axial force is released.

  • Patent number: 5497834
Abstract: A sprinkler head has a shock absorber. The shock absorber may be a heat collection plate disposed below a thermosensitive part of the sprinkler. The heat collection plate may be formed with a recess or at least one notch around an attachment portion to which it may be attached to the sprinkler head. The recess or notch serves to reduce strength of the heat collection plate, whereby the heat collection plate may be easily deformed upon application of a shock or external force thereto. Thus, any external force or shock is prevented from being transmitted to the thermosensitive part. Deformation of the heat collection plate also facilitates visual recognition of a sprinkler head to which external force has been given.

  • Patent number: 5257827
Abstract: A frame-type sprinkler head for dispensing fire extinguishing liquid. The sprinkler head includes a frame having a conducting hole therein through which fire extinguishing liquid may flow. The sprinkler head includes a valve body disposed adjacent to the conducting hole for blocking the conducting hole. The sprinkler head including a packing affixed to the valve body to prevent separation of the packing and the valve body. The packing is disposed between the conducting hole and the valve body for preventing leakage of the extinguishing liquid past the valve body. The sprinkler head includes a band-like protrusion extending from an edge of the packing. The band-like protrusion is engaged with an engagement portion provided on the frame for causing pivoting movement of said valve body and for preventing lodgement.
