    Abstract: A cushioning assembly comprises a foundation, a plurality of springs mounted on the foundation, and a pad resting on the springs. Each spring is formed of plastic and forms a through-chamber having an axis. The axes of the springs lie in a common plane oriented perpendicular to the loading applied thereto when a user rests on the assembly. Pad-supporting plates are removably attached to the spring bodies, e.g., by clamp members.
