Abstract: A screen printing stencil made from a composition comprising polyhydroxy compounds having a plurality of 1,2- or 1,3-diol groups along a polymer backbone, the diol groups grafted thereto a compound of formula (I) (where A is an arylene or an alkylene group; X is an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, a carbon-carbon bond, or a group of formula (a), (b) or (c); R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R.sup.1 is a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl group; m is an integer of from 1 to 8; n is an integer of from 1 to 3; and p is 1 or 2); or an acetal of the polyhydroxy, compound with ethylene glycol.

Abstract: A water-based, UV-curable ink for plastic substrates, comprising:a) a water-dispersible or water-soluble urethane acrylate oligomer;b) a monomer that is capable of softening the substrate in part or in full; the monomer being resistant to hydrolysis; andc) a passive resin that is soluble in the monomer.

Abstract: Radiation-curable compositions including a free radically polymerizable monomer or prepolymer and a different monomer containing an N-vinyl group, said different monomer being a solid at ambient temperature. The different monomer is preferably N-vinyl caprolactam, N-vinyl carbazole, or N,N'-divinyl-2-imidazolidone, for example in an amount of from 1 to 50 percent by weight of the said different monomer. Such compositions have shown good adhesion to and have rendered plastics substrates wettable by the compositions before curing, without the presence of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone.

Abstract: Photopolymerizable grafted polyvinyl alcohols including groups of formula ##STR1## wherein n represents zero or an integer from 1 to 6, m represents zero or 1 (with the proviso that m represents zero when n represents zero), Z together with the nitrogen and carbon atoms to which they are attached represent a heterocyclic ring optionally fused to one or more benzenoid or heterocyclic rings, X.sup.- represents an anion, R' represents an alkyl group, and p represents an integer from 1 to 4. Compositions containing such grafted polyvinyl alcohols, for example for screen printing stencils, have shown high sensitivity to light.
