Abstract: A squeezable, flexible tubular package for an edible product is compartmented to simultaneously hold a first edible product in one compartment separate from a second edible product in another juxtaposed compartment. The package includes an elongated enclosure defined by a pair of transparent, flexible film strips bonded to one another around the periphery thereof by a liquid tight seal; and a membrane situated between the film strips, bonded to the periphery of the film strips by a liquid tight seal, partitioning the enclosure into a pair of juxtaposed, liquid tight compartments. An extrudable, edible product is separately contained in each of the compartments. Apparatus for continuously and successively forming, filling and sealing articulated arrays of such packaged products is also disclosed.

Abstract: A prosthesis for replacing a joint between a first bone and a second bone in a human hand or foot includes first and second rigid blocks (110, 120) interconnected by a flexible bridging structure (130). In certain embodiments, the flexible bridging structure employs a helical spring oriented with its central axis aligned with a central axis of a bone anchor portion of the first rigid block. One or more shear-limiting element (101, 140) is deployed within an internal volume of the helical spring (130) to limit an extent of shear deformation applied to the helical spring. Other aspects of the invention relate to adjustable bone-abutment flanges, an alternative bridging structure employing a helically-twisted leaf spring, and a structure and method for bridging between the first metacarpal and the scaphoid in case of removal of the trapezium from the hand.

Abstract: A reusable flexible fishing lure (10), including a head (12), a body (14), and a tail (16), is characterized in that it includes at least one cut-out (18) forming a rupture initiator (20), at right angles to the junction of the head (12) and the body (14). The lure can thus be used as such or with a lead-sealed head to replace the cut-out head.

Abstract: A flushing mechanism for toilet tank comprises an overflow tube (1) provided with a sealing valve (3, 4) co-operating with a discharge orifice (5?) including a first floater (30) mounted on a height-adjusting screw (31) and a second floater (40) mounted pivoting about a fixed pin (41). The adjusting screw (31) is articulated (33) on a lever (34) articulated about a fixed pin (35), the lever (34) is provided with a snug (36) co-operating with a first locking cam (37) and the second floater (40) is provided with a snug (42) co-operating with a second locking cam (43). The invention is applicable to double-volume flushing systems.

Abstract: A combination point-of-purchase package and point-of-use disposable cooler for beverage containers, such as bottles or the like, which is a container provided with a separate, liquid impervious liner therein. The beverage containers are stored in the container and enveloped by the liner at the point-of-purchase. A spacer in the container but removable therefrom is provided to create a space in the container for receiving a cooling medium such as ice for cooling the beverage containers.

Abstract: Disclosed is a disposable contraceptive in which a first member engages the vaginal vault and a second member, secured to the first member, engages and closes the cervical opening. The first and second members are substantially discoid, with the second member smaller in discoid area than the first. The second member is a generally impermeable sponge-like material which is lubricated to aid in adhesion and closure of the cervix. The first member is generally resiliently closable so that the overall dimension of the contraceptive may be reduced in size for insertion into the vaginal vault. The first member is defined at least by opposed anterior and posterior portions which engage the respective anterior and posterior portions of the vaginal vault. The second member is coupled or joined to the first member at the posterior portion.In one embodiment, the second member is a sponge joined to a film. The film is held in position to define the first discoid member surface by a rim.
