Abstract: Methods, secure elements, validation entities, and computer program products for effecting secure communication of payment information to merchants for Internet-based purchases. Payment information for a user's real payment information is installed in a secure element of a computer, the payment information may comprise a pseudo PAN number for the portable consumer device provided by a validation entity. The secure element is shielded from the computer's operating system to thwart hacker attacks. The user accesses the secure element to make a purchase. In response, the secure element contacts the validation entity with the pseudo account number, and in response obtains dynamic payment information that the secure element can used to effect the payment. The dynamic payment information comprises an account number that is different from the pseudo PAN, and which has at least one difference which respect to the user's real payment information.
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a composition that can be used in a cementing. The composition includes at least: (i) a hydraulic cement; and (ii) a copolymer comprising at least the monomeric units (a) through (d) of the following formula: wherein the monomeric units (a) through (d) can be any sequence and any proportion in the copolymer. With water, the composition of the hydraulic cement and such a copolymer becomes a cement composition. According to the method, the cement composition is introduced into a well and allowed to set in the well.
Abstract: An adaptive fuzzy rule controlling system for a software defined storage (SDS) system to control performance parameters in a storage node is disclosed. The system includes: a traffic monitoring module, for acquiring observed values of performance parameters in the storage node; an adaptive neural fuzzy inference module, for learning a dynamic relationship between configurations of a plurality of storage devices in the storage node and the performance parameters during a period of time, and outputting fuzzy rules which is built according to the dynamic relationship; a traffic forecasting module, for providing forecasted values of the performance parameters in a particular point in time in the future; and a fuzzy rule control module, for arranging the configuration of the storage devices in the storage node in the particular point in time in the future according to the fuzzy rules and the forecasted values.

Abstract: Generating broadband light downhole for wellbore application. A laser source is configured to reside outside a wellbore and produce a seed light pulse at a first wavelength spectrum. A converter is configured to be received inside the wellbore, remote from the laser source. The converter receives the seed light pulse at the first wavelength spectrum through one or more fiber optic cables, and generates light at a second wavelength spectrum that has a broader range than the first wavelength spectrum.

Abstract: A cryptographic expansion device that can be attached to a communication component of a communication device to enable the communication device to perform cryptographic operations on communications sent to and from the communication device is described. The cryptographic expansion device can be a small-form factor cryptographic expansion device that can be used with a small-form factor communication component such as a micro-SIM (subscriber identity module) card. When used with a communication device, the cryptographic expansion device enables the communication device to send and received end-to-end secure encrypted communications. The end-to-end secure communications enabled by the cryptographic expansion device can be utilized by a user of the communication device to perform financial and/or banking transactions.

Abstract: A method for treating a zone of a well with a viscosified fluid is provided, wherein the fluid is adapted to break in the well. The method includes the steps of: (A) introducing a well fluid into the zone of the well, wherein the well fluid includes: (i) a water phase; (ii) a water-soluble polymer in the water-phase; and (iii) a source of a hydroxylamine or salt thereof; and (B) allowing the viscosity of the well fluid to break in the zone.
Abstract: A fall detection device for a lifeline, intended to be mounted on an energy absorber which includes a static portion and a mobile portion secured together, wherein the mobile portion is shifted in the event of a force higher than a force threshold value and actuates an absorber. The fall detection device includes a sensor and trajectory tracking device secured to the end of the static portion or to the end of the mobile portion and able freely to move with the end of the mobile portion or the end of the static portion respectively. This trajectory tracking device is adapted to actuate the sensor when shifting of the mobile portion is data-generating.
Abstract: A test apparatus for testing an IR sensor of train undercarriage temperatures is disclosed. The IR sensor may be used to obtain infrared IR emission data by sensing a wheel or a wheel bearing of a rail vehicle. The test apparatus may comprise a heat emitter for supplying IR emissions at a reference temperature to the IR sensor. A support may support the heat emitter at a position spaced from the passage of the rail vehicle and in an orientation for directing the IR emissions at the IR sensor.
Abstract: An apparatus includes a database of content and a content system. The database stores content related to a set of entities to be voted upon in a voting system, wherein there is at least one piece of content for each selection. The content system receives a vote of a user from the voting system and at least an identifier of a cellphone of the user and provides content related to the vote from the database to the cellphone. At least a portion of the content is playable on the cellphone.
Abstract: Various methods and systems are directed to a meter alert system that provides surveillance of meters and other components of a utility system. The meter alert system obtains, via a user interface, specification of one or more meter conditions among a list of meter conditions. The meter alert system generates a rule for a utility metering device according to the meter conditions, wherein the rule is associated with a utility metering device identifier of the utility metering device. The meter system executes the rule, wherein an execution of the rule generates an alert in response to at least one of the first meter condition being satisfied or the second meter condition being satisfied. The meter alert system transmits a notification message in response to the alert being generated.
Abstract: A roof mount assembly mounts a structure to a roof having a rafter and a substrate supported by the rafter. The roof mount assembly includes a piece of flashing positioned on the substrate. The flashing includes a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface and an aperture extending through the flashing. A fastener extends through the flashing aperture. A bracket is connected to the flashing via the fastener, and the bracket is sized to support at least one roof-mounted structure on the roof. A seal is positioned between the flashing aperture and the fastener. The seal is sized to form a water-tight seal with the aperture to inhibit flow of fluid through the aperture.
