Abstract: A system and method enable rapid knowledge transfer, for example between a plurality of experts and a plurality of apprentices located remotely from the experts. The system makes use of unique tools to facilitate transfer of knowledge and collaboration between individuals, even among remotely located individuals. An input to the system is a Knowledge Transfer Plan which has been designed to orchestrate the knowledge transfer. The knowledge transfer system integrates a shared repository and collaboration tools for use by the expert and apprentice. The collaboration tools may be accessed through role-specific portals which are automatically created from the Knowledge Transfer Plan. In one embodiment, the system is configured with a World Wide Web-based interface and an integrated suite of tools to support knowledge transfer activities on a global basis to facilitate knowledge transfer among workers engaged in an outsourcing business process.

Abstract: A cash dispensing automated banking machine includes a card reader associated with a card slot. An anti-fraud sensing device is able to sense ambient light or generated radiation that passes to the sensing device through the card reader slot. The installation of an unauthorized card reading device on the machine changes at least one property sensed by the sensing device. A controller in the machine receives signals from the sensing device, and determines if an unauthorized card reading device has been installed.

Abstract: A legacy application decommissioner provides developers a tool to decommission and migrate legacy application functionality in a phased approach. The decommissioner identifies core web services that invoke legacy applications through an accessibility layer that monitors operator interaction with the application. The decommissioner then defines, creates, and deploys a web service that provides control over the operation of the legacy application. As a result, the functionality of the legacy application may be migrated to a new platform and architecture and the legacy application decommissioned so that organizations may continue to realize a return on their significant investment in the creation of the legacy application.

Abstract: A video poker game incorporating a bonus award predicated on the strengths of a poker hand formed by initially dealt cards and replacement cards in combination. Other optional bonus awards are based on consecutive cards forming a winning poker hand and/or the winning cards being in sequence. The game is facilitated by a bonus hand displayed below or above a primary hand on a gaming device display. As five initial cards are dealt in a primary hand location they are simultaneously dealt in one or more bonus hand locations. Then, when replacement cards are dealt into the primary hand in the place of any discards, they are also dealt into the one or more bonus hand locations adjacent to the initial cards. The cards in the bonus hand are then evaluated to determine whether a bonus award has been won. It is also disclosed in another version that regardless of the number of replacement cards, the bonus hand is always formed of ten cards.

Abstract: Facilitating the exchange of information among applications (e.g., business support systems or operational support systems or a combination thereof) may involve receiving a data object from a first application, using a first controller to route the received data object to a first transformer, using the first transformer to transform the data object from a first format used by the first application into a common format object, publishing the common format object to a communication channel, receiving a request from a subscribing application to subscribe to the communication channel, using a second controller to route the common format object to a second transformer, using the second transformer to transform the common format object into a data object in a second format used by the subscribing application, and sending the data object in the second format to the subscribing application.

Abstract: Treatments and compounds useful in subterranean formations are discussed, with particular attention to those utilizing ceramic coated particulates. Certain embodiments pertain to particulates and particulate packs with ceramic coatings of subatomic thickness. Of these, certain methods may utilize ceramic coatings on particulates in a subterranean formation, certain methods may utilize ceramic coatings on particulate packs in a subatomic formation, and certain compounds may provide the features of both ceramic coatings and particulates.

The controller is configured to control the operation of the sound generating device in accordance with the input from the user interface.

Abstract: A platform container transfer terminal (10) functions as an efficient hub port. Sea Point™ Transfer station modules (21, 22, 23) can be moved intact across oceans for rapid erection in remote or strategic locations to provide high speed loading and unloading of large container vessels (31, 32) to lighters or feeder vessels (41, 42, 43, 44, 45) and/or to facilities adjacent. A gantry crane (510) combined with one or more rotating boom cranes (11, 12, 17, 18) increases cargo productivity economically. There can be two luffing boom cranes attached to the gantry and two slewing boom cranes attached to the gantry. One can retrofit an existing gantry by attaching a boom crane and frame to a ship-to-shore gantry.

Abstract: The angle of arrival is estimated for a received signal received by an array of commutated antenna elements, wherein there is a temporal boundary at the instant of commutation between antenna elements. Samples of the signal received by the elements of the array are preprocessed to construct maximum-likelihood-estimates of the received signal for points in time that are immediately adjacent the temporal boundaries and thereby provide a preprocessed signal. A maximum-likelihood-estimation of the angle of arrival of the received signal is made for the array of commutated antenna elements by processing the preprocessed signal.

Abstract: Method and system for conducting a commercial transaction requiring a monetary loan online to allow a consumer or borrower to access a lending institution over a network connection and apply for a monetary loan online. The loan application is processed in real time and the borrower is notified of the type of loan, loan amount, interest rate, etc., that he/she is qualified for. Upon acceptance of the loan terms, the borrower is provided with a personal identification number (PIN) and a unique lender transaction ID that serves as confirmation of the loan. The lender transaction ID may then be taken to a suitable seller and used to conduct the transaction. The seller simply accesses the lending institution over a network connection, enters the lender transaction ID, the borrower's PIN, and other transaction-related information, and the lending institution automatically sends the appropriate payment to the seller.

Abstract: The present invention is a system for electronically controlling the movement of a pin assembly used in a valve gate mechanism of an injection molding machine. The system of the present invention includes at least one valve which is part of an injection molding machine, as well as a graphical user interface which is operable for controlling the injection molding machine and the valve. Additionally, the present invention also includes controlling the injection molding machine electronically for improving the control over the opening and closing of the valves.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to financial data processing, and in particular it relates to lender credit scoring, lender profiling, lender behavior analysis and modeling. More specifically, it relates to rating lenders based on data derived from their respective consumers. Also, the present disclosure relates to rating consumer lenders based on the predicted spend capacity of their consumers.

Abstract: A system and method for facilitating automatic reconciliation of transaction card transactions is disclosed, wherein a user may request single-use account codes via the Internet. The system comprises various hardware and software systems to enable a card member, program administrator, or any other designated third-party to request one or more single-use account codes. The requestor may further assign a descriptor for each of the one or more account codes. After receiving a requested account code, the requester may communicate the account code to a merchant to facilitate a purchase transaction. The system retrieves a list of transactions from the card issuer at regular intervals, matches the account codes in the list to an account code and associated descriptor, and records the reconciled transaction within a database.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for verifying the identity of a cardholder are provided. A digital representation of a magnetic characteristic of a magnetic stripe of the card is stored on a portable electronic device of the cardholder. During a transaction, the digital signature is then transmitted so that it can be compared with a reference signature. The identity may be verified, and a response sent to a party requesting the verification, e.g., during a transaction between the requesting party and the verified party.

Abstract: Compositions and methods for detecting and/or differentiating among Candida organisms, including C. albicans and C. dubliniensis, are disclosed. Exemplary methods involve screening a sample suspected of containing at least one or more Candida sp. for the presence or absence of a nucleic acid sequence specific for each such fungal pathogen. Some disclosed methods permit the rapid and simultaneous detection and identification of several fungal pathogens (e.g., up to 100 fungi) in a single sample.

Abstract: Method and system are directed to capturing consumer agreement to the terms of a transaction conducted online. The method/system uses a modular electronic signature block that may be applied to electronic versions of any standardized form. The electronic signature is implemented in a non-invasive way that does not alter or replace the contents of the electronic forms. The modular nature of the electronic signature block allows a separate electronic signature to be used for each online form, or a single electronic signature for multiple online forms. The online forms themselves are generated by populating a generic template of the standardized forms with consumer-specific data. The electronically-signed forms may thereafter be stored as data for a particular template. Such an arrangement provides a more secure, reproducible, verifiable, and unalterable means of capturing consumer consent, thereby allowing consumer transactions to be conducted entirely online.

Abstract: Characteristics about one or more wireless access devices in a wireless network, whether known or unknown entities, can be determined using a system and method according to the present invention. An observation is made of the activity over a Wireless Area Network (WLAN). Based on this activity, changes in state of wireless access devices within the WLAN can be observed and monitored. These changes in state could be indicative of normal operation of the WLAN, or they may indicate the presence of an unauthorized user. In the latter case, an alert can be sent so that appropriate action may be taken. Additionally, ad hoc networks can be detected that may be connected to a wireless access point.

Abstract: A specialized lighting fixture including a main housing and a front bezel, and a pair of clip elements mounted in the bezel to removably secure one or more filters and a reflector. The clip elements also include a pair of opposed spring arms angled towards the bezel axis with the upper portion of the side edges of the arms positioned closer to the bezel axis than the lower portion of such edges. The bezel includes support surfaces that function, together with the clip elements to position the reflector with respect to the bezel and the bezel with respect to the main housing.

Abstract: A suction valve for a reciprocating compressor includes a hollow cylindrical valve seat having a plurality of suction ports formed therethrough. The suction ports are covered by flaps moveably mounted on the inner surface of the valve seat which open and close in response to pressure differentials in the compressor. The flaps are oriented in a consistent circumferential direction so as to induce a vortex effect in gas moving through the suction ports.

Abstract: A clutch assembly for a locking differential includes driving clutch members engaged with driven clutch members in a preloaded configuration to provide a minimum amount of preload there between during low torque conditions. The driving clutch members are biased relative to each other with shear pin/spring assemblies located within bores of the driving clutch members. During assembly of the clutch assembly, the shear pin/spring assemblies may be positively locked down within the bores with a removable tool. In one embodiment, the removable tool is inserted into a small opening extending through the driving clutch member and the tool engages an annular groove on a shear pin of the shear pin/spring assembly. Further, the clutch assembly may include driving clutch members having drainage openings that may help prevent hydraulic lock during operation of the locking differential.
