Abstract: Systems and methods for securely pairing a transmitting device with a receiving device are described. The systems and methods may communicate with a first device via a first communication method over a wireless communication network. The systems and methods may acquire from the first device via a second communication method, a first sensory pattern representing a first key, the first key being a security key, wherein the second communication method is different from the first communication method. In addition, the systems and methods may determine the first key by deciphering the first sensory pattern using a deciphering scheme. Further, the system and methods may communicate with the first device via the first communication method using the first key.

Abstract: Gamma ray logging tools are calibrated using gamma emissions data simulated using Monte Carlo modeling techniques. During the simulation, one or more nuclear activity zones of a formation are modeled and photon counting rates are determined. Using the simulated counting rates, an American Petroleum Institute (“API”) unit sensitivity factor is calculated. The API unit sensitivity factor is then applied to convert real logging tool counting responses into API units.

Abstract: In some aspects, a closed boundary is computed based on locations and location-uncertainty domains of microseismic events associated with a stimulation treatment of a subterranean region. The closed boundary encloses the locations and respective location-uncertainty domains of multiple microseismic event data points. An error bound of a stimulated reservoir volume (SRV) for the stimulation treatment is identified based on the closed boundary.

Abstract: Synthetic polynucleotides encoding human methylmalonyl-CoA mutase (synMUT) and exhibiting augmented expression in cell culture and/or in a subject are described herein. An adeno-associated viral (AAV) gene therapy vector encoding synMUT under the control of a liver-specific promoter (AAV2/8-HCR-hAAT-synMUT-RBG) successfully rescued the neonatal lethal phenotype displayed by methylmalonyl-CoA mutase-deficient mice, lowered circulating methylmalonic acid levels in the treated animals, and resulted in prolonged hepatic expression of the product of synMUT transgene in vivo, human methylmalonyl-CoA mutase (MUT).

Abstract: A downhole distributor valve includes a housing that includes a housing fluid port therethrough, a mandrel that defines a bore and is positioned radially within the housing, and a fluid chamber radially defined between the housing and the mandrel and configured to contain a fluid at a particular pressure. The mandrel includes a mandrel fluid port therethrough. The mandrel is moveable from a first position with the bore fluidly decoupled from the housing fluid port to a second position with the bore fluidly coupled with the housing fluid port through the mandrel fluid port. The mandrel is moveable based on a hydrostatic pressure in the bore greater than the particular pressure of the pressurized fluid.

Abstract: Systems and methods for securely managing biometric data are provided. In a method conducted at a secure element which is directly connected to a biometric input, biometric data is received directly from the biometric input. A biometric signature based on the biometric data is obtained. A seed value specific to the biometric data is accessed by obtaining the seed value from the biometric data or biometric signature. The biometric signature is encoded using an obscured algorithm and the seed value to generate a token which is output for secure storage within the secure element or secure transmission to a secure server for registration or authentication of the biometric data.
Abstract: A method and system for providing a feedback based dynamic pricing algorithm with an embedded controller for a HOT (High Occupancy Toll) lane. An input-output transfer function of a vehicle flow with respect to a HOT lane can be obtained utilizing a simulation module. A feedback controller combined with, for example, a Smith predictor can be designed to avoid an unstable behavior due to a time delay in the HOT lane, a price regulation, and a large transient caused by an integral part of the controller due to traffic jams. A driver behavior preference model can be derived based on a relationship between a toll rate and several characteristics of the HOT lane and a general purpose lane. The feedback controller and the behavior preference model can then be implemented to set the toll rate in real-time in order to satisfy a desired performance metric.
