  • Patent number: 10030950
Abstract: A toy dart includes a deformable cap that safely impacts a target. The cap includes two layers of substantially parallel hollow passages that provide spaces that allow the cap to deform. The lower layer, having two hollow passages, is supported by exterior posts and an interior wall between the two hollow passages. The upper layer, having three hollow passages, is supported by exterior posts and interior walls that are laterally offset from the interior wall of the lower layer. The upper and lower layers are separated vertically by a substantially flat divider. Due to the difference in the number of hollow passages and interior walls in each layer, the upper layer is more rigid than the lower layer such that the lower layer of the cap deforms more than the upper layer of the cap upon initial impact with the target.

  • Patent number: 10033628
Abstract: Some embodiments move the task of selecting between different transit provider paths from the network level to the application level. Some embodiments perform network level configurations involving a destination network router advertising over a first transit provider path, a unique first address identifying a destination network server as reachable via the first path and advertising over a second transit provider path, a unique second address identifying the destination network server as reachable via the second path. Some embodiments further perform application level configurations involving a source network server passing a first packet to the destination network server over the first path by addressing the first packet to the first address and passing a second packet to the destination network server over the second path by addressing the second packet to the second address. The path selection may be based on policies accounting for congestion, performance, and other metrics.

  • Patent number: 10030472
Abstract: A tubing string can include a plug blocking fluid flow through a port. The plug can be a frangible component or include a frangible component. When the frangible component is broken, fluid is allowed to flow through the port. An object is releasable from downwell and breaks the frangible component as the object travels towards the surface of the well, propelled by the production fluid. Fluid flow through the port can cause a sleeve to open or close additional ports. Fluid flow through the port can allow for optimized production from the wellbore.

  • Patent number: 10033598
Abstract: Cloud computing has emerged as an extremely popular implementation option for a wide range of computing services. However, provisioning services into the cloud is an extremely difficult technical challenge. This is due in part to the regular emergence of new cloud service providers, as well as the routine changing and reconfiguration of the disparate computing platforms, services, assets, supported technical components, and other features offered by the service providers. An analysis architecture determines how to map a particular technical component into the execution environment of any particular service provider, including translation through a reference type.

  • Patent number: 10032481
Abstract: Provided is a system for efficiently creating snippets or clips from media assets without re-encoding the entire portion of already encoded media content falling within the snippet boundaries. The system partitions and encodes the original media asset as set of slices with each slice encoding a different temporal chunk of the media asset. The system identifies a first slice that encodes a duration of the media asset spanning the snippet start time, and a second slice that encodes a duration of the media asset spanning the snippet end time. The system produces a snippet start slice from decoding, clipping, and re-encoding the first slice and a snippet end slice from decoding, clipping, and re-encoding the second slice. The system generates the snippet from the snippet start slice, an unmodified subset of the set of slices between the first slice and the second slice, and the snippet end slice.

  • Publication number: 20180202944
Abstract: A system for inspecting an interior surface of a girth weld region of a pipeline includes a robot that includes a scanner mounted on a carriage for scanning the interior surface of the girth weld region to generate surface profile data. A profile analyzer receives the surface profile data and outputs an indication of whether the interior surface of the girth weld region is suitable for being coated. In some embodiments, an imaging system captures images of the girth weld region as it is being scanned. In a method of coating the girth weld regions of a pipeline, the images of a girth weld region found to be unsuitable for being coated based on the scanning data are used to certify whether the girth weld region is suitable for being coated.

  • Publication number: 20180204252
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method generate a representation of travel costs for an individual traveler. The method includes computing a fixed community cost component attributable to each traveler in a community, per time period, computing a fixed individual cost component for the individual traveler, per time period, and for each of a set of time periods, computing a variable individual cost component for the individual traveler. For each of the time periods in the set of time periods, the fixed community cost, fixed individual cost, and variable individual cost components are aggregated into an aggregated cost. A representation is generated for displaying the aggregated costs for the set of time periods to the individual traveler, in which the three cost components are identified.
