Patent number: 10688960Abstract: A seat belt system for a vehicle comprises a first seat belt buckle mounted at a first location, a second seat belt buckle mounted at a second location and a seat belt retractor mounted at a third location, a seat belt and a circuit. The third location is spaced along a seat for an occupant from the second location. The seat belt is extendable from the seat belt retractor and has a tongue. The seat belt is extendable to connect the tongue to the first seat belt buckle or the second seat belt buckle. The circuit interconnects the first seat belt buckle, the second seat belt buckle and the seat belt retractor. The circuit is configured to change an operating mode of the seat belt retractor when (1) the seat belt tongue is removed from the first seat belt buckle and/or (2) the seat belt tongue is removed from the second seat belt buckle. An optional indicator can be provided to indicate to the vehicle operator that the operating mode of the retractor has been changed.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2017Date of Patent: June 23, 2020Assignee: Setina Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventors: Terry L. Patent number: 8939478Abstract: A vehicle bumper for use with police and other emergency vehicles for pushing another vehicle which is fabricated of a tubular loop defining a generally oval cross-section. The oval cross-section tubular loop is oriented such that the major axis of the oval cross-section extends front to back with respect to the host vehicle while the minor axis extends up and down. The vehicle bumper further supports a plurality of resilient pads to aid in controlling the pushed vehicle and to cushion impact transfer between the bumper and the pushed vehicle. The inventive vehicle bumper is substantially stronger and substantially lighter in weight while simultaneously providing a more attractive front view cross-section when mounted on a host vehicle. A plurality of attachments are secured to the tubular loop and are used in securing the vehicle bumper to a suitable portion of a host vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2012Date of Patent: January 27, 2015Assignee: J.R. Patent number: 5683021Abstract: A gun case for mounting in a vehicle is disclosed including a container within which the gun is substantially entirely contained and a lid which is locked to such container. An electrically actuated lock is employed which includes a plurality of latches spaced along the gun case and a common actuator plate which slides longitudinally to unlock the latches in response to an electrical actuator device such as a solenoid or an electric motor. The container pivots down to a lowered unlocked position away from the lid to enable the gun to be removed from the container. A cam actuated locking mechanism is provided to lock the container to the lid when the container is pivoted upward to a raised locked position. A key actuated mechanism moves the actuator plate to unlock the container when the electrical actuator does not operate.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1995Date of Patent: November 4, 1997Assignee: J. R.
