  • Patent number: 4749752
Abstract: Fluoropolymer alloys made of melt fabricatable extra-high-molecular weight fluorinated ethylene-propylene copolymer (EHMW-FEP) and one or more other polymers. In fluoropolymer alloys made of EHMW-FEP and polytetrafluoroethylene, the weight percentage of the former is 0.1-99.9% and the latter is 99.9-0.1% respectively. The processes for preparing the fluoropolymer alloys are dried powder co-mill or wetted powder co-mill. Using the fluoropolymer alloys of this invention various kinds of articles have been fabricated by melt compression or cold compaction and sintering. These articles show a great improvement in creep property and also a prolonged service life in comparison with those made from ordinary polytetrafluoroethylene.

  • Patent number: 4678847
Abstract: The present invention relates to the process for preparing terpolymer of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE), ethylene (E), and a third monomer. According to the present invention, dicarbonate peroxide is used as initiator, 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoro-ethane as the reaction medium and compounds of molecular formula C.sub.n R.sub.2n+2, wherein, n=0,1, or 2;R=H, Cl or F, are gaseous chain telomeric agents to control the average molecular weight of copolymers, the formula of third monomer is CF.sub.2 XCOCF.sub.2 X' or ##STR1## wherein X=X'=Cl or F, R.sub.1 =CF.sub.3 or CH.sub.3,R.sub.2 =CF.sub.3, CH.sub.3 or H, and R.sub.3 =H or F, usually the molar ratio of TFE to E is from 60:40 to 40:60 with the content of the third monomer being from 0.1% to 10%, based on the total molar amount of TFE and E.
