  • Publication number: 20140368484
Abstract: Provided is a display device capable of switching a refresh rate while suppressing deterioration in display quality and degradation in liquid crystal. In the case of switching the refresh rate from 60 Hz to 7.5 Hz, a transition period for gradually changing the refresh rate from 60 Hz to 7.5 Hz is provided between a 60-Hz period and a 7.5-Hz period. This transition period is configured by sequentially arraying a 30-Hz period, a 20-Hz period, a 15-Hz period, a 12-Hz period and a 10-Hz period from a start point of the transition period. Hence the refresh rate gradually changes from 60 Hz to 7.5 Hz sequentially through 30 Hz, 20 Hz, 15 Hz, 12 Hz and 10 Hz. The number of positive-polarity frames and the number of negative-polarity frames are respectively 20 in the whole of the transition period, and are equal to each other.

  • Publication number: 20140368148
Abstract: A lock detecting circuit includes: a CPU 204; switches 220 to 224 controlled by control signals FAN1 to FANn output from the CPU and supplying electric power to motors 210 to 214; gates 240 to 244 controlled by the control signals and selectively outputting, as signals XLD1 to XLDn, input motor state signals LD1 to LDn; and an element 232 outputting, as a signal LOCK, a result of logical sum of the signals XLD1 to XLDn. If the signal LOCK indicates a locked state, the CPU sets any one of the control signals to a high level and, in this state, determines the level of signal LOCK, to determine whether each motor is locked. Thus, a locked motor can be identified.

  • Publication number: 20140367691
Abstract: According to a semiconductor substrate (40), a space (A) between a plurality of Si thin film (16), which are provide apart from one another on the insulating substrate (30), is (I) larger than a difference between elongation of part of the insulating substrate which part corresponds to the space (A) and elongation of each of Si wafers (10) when a change is made from room temperature to 600° C. and (II) smaller than 5 mm. This causes an increase in a region of each of a plurality of semiconductor thin films which region has a uniform thickness, and therefore prevents transferred semiconductor layers and the insulating substrate from being fractured or chipped.

  • Publication number: 20140368527
Abstract: Areas of a video signal that represent light emission are detected, the luminance levels at which said light emission areas are displayed are enhanced, emphasizing said areas, and said luminance stretching is controlled in accordance with a set image quality mode, thereby producing consistently natural, high-quality visual imagery. A light emission detecting portion (12) counts pixels in order to generate a histogram of a prescribed feature quantity of an input video signal and identifies areas that fall within a prescribed range at the upper end of said histogram as being light emission areas. On the basis of a brightness-related index computed from the input video signal on the basis of prescribed conditions, an area-active-control/luminance-stretching portion (14) performs luminance stretching, increasing the luminance of a backlight portion (16) and reducing the luminance of non-light emission areas of the video signal, i.e. the areas other than the light emitting areas.

  • Patent number: 8913298
Abstract: Original image data obtained by reading an original is joined with watermark data associated with a watermark for copy control, which appears as a result of making a copy. The watermark generating section sets the spatial frequency of a chromatic halftone pattern of a foreground, which appears as a result of making a copy, lower than the spatial frequency of an achromatic halftone pattern of a foreground, which appears as a result of making a copy. Accordingly, it becomes more difficult to recognize a foreground in an original document when the foreground is generated using an achromatic color, while a foreground in the duplication is recognized clearly when the foreground is generated using a chromatic color.
