Abstract: In an extracting step, the extracting portion obtains a linked component composed of a plurality of mutually linking pixels from a character string region composed of a plurality of characters, and extracts section elements from the character string region, the section elements each being surrounded by a circumscribing figure circumscribing to the linked component. In the first altering step, the first altering portion combines section elements at least having a mutually overlapping part among the extracted section elements so as to prepare a new section element. In the first selecting step, the first selecting portion determines a reference size in advance and selects section elements having a size greater than the reference size, from among the section elements altered in the first altering step.

Abstract: The present invention causes noise in a low-luminance portion to become less prominent when a backlight is divided into a plurality of regions and the luminance of the backlight is controlled in accordance with a video signal corresponding to each of the regions. An area active control portion (2) divides a video signal into a plurality of regions and outputs a first feature amount for every region. An LED control portion (3) determines a first luminance for each of the divided regions of an LED backlight (5) in accordance with the first feature amount of every region. Within a range where the total value of an LED drive current is no greater than a predetermined allowable current value, a magnification constant is uniformly multiplied by the first luminance to determine a second luminance.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal panel according to the present invention includes the steps of providing a marking pad including a marking region formed of a stack constituted only of a metal film serving as a lower layer and an ITO film serving as an upper layer on a main surface of a glass substrate, bonding a glass substrate to the glass substrate so as to be opposed to the main surface of the marking region in the marking pad at a distance therefrom, and providing marking by providing a through hole in the marking region in the marking pad by irradiating the marking region in the marking pad with laser beams through the glass substrate. Thus, the marking pad provided on the glass substrate for the liquid crystal panel can be provided with marking of high definition even though laser beams are emitted through another glass substrate for a liquid crystal panel paired with the glass substrate for the liquid crystal panel.

Abstract: In case that a base station apparatus and a mobile station apparatus use a plurality of component carriers to communicate with each other, they effectively transmit and receive HARQ control information. At least one physical downlink control channel on at least a first downlink component carrier attempts to be decoded, and, in case that one physical downlink control channel corresponding to one physical downlink shared channel transmission on a second downlink component carrier other than the first downlink component carrier is detected, the HARQ control information is transmitted to the base station apparatus using a first physical uplink control channel resource whereas, in case that one physical downlink control channel corresponding to one physical downlink shared channel transmission on the first downlink component carrier is detected, the HARQ control information is transmitted to the base station apparatus using a second physical uplink control channel resource.
Abstract: A method for reporting uplink control information (UCI) is described. A first part of the UCI is encoded in a single physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) symbol. A channel of the PUCCH symbol is selected to implicitly encode a second part of the UCI in the PUCCH symbol. The PUCCH symbol is transmitted via a single PUCCH signal.
Abstract: A display panel of an organic EL display device includes a photo-detection section that detects reflected light when a screen is touched by a finger or the like. The photo-detection section includes a photodiode that receives the reflected light, and an output amplifier that outputs an output voltage corresponding to the amount of the received light. If an a-Si diode is used for such a photodiode, a sufficiently large signal difference between the bright state and the dark state can be achieved. Also, if a p-Si amplifier is used for the output amplifier, the output voltage becomes the saturation voltage at the time of read-out. This allows the p-Si amplifier to directly output the large difference detected by the a-Si diode as a large difference in the output voltage.
Abstract: In regards to the conventional technology for performing operational inputs by referring a GUI and by means of a touch sensor, there exists a problem in which the relationship of correspondence between on-screen locations of selection items on a GUI and touchpad locations cannot be accurately grasped. Moreover, cases in which a touch panel equipped with an information display function instead of a touch sensor is used cause problems in that the cost thereof or power consumed thereby can be relatively high, etc. In order to solve the problems described as above, the present invention provides a remote control that selects an icon on a GUI as a target of operation using a touch sensor, and which is characterized by a configuration that allows a user to easily identify the relationship of correspondence by brightening of a touch sensor on a touchpad corresponding to icon arrangement on a GUI.
