Patent number: 8643922Abstract: A method is provided for gamut clipping with preprocessing enabled as software instructions stored in a computer-readable medium and executable by a processor. The instructions provide a color in a color space defined by at least three attributes. If the color lies outside a gamut boundary in the first color space, a distance is measured from the color to the gamut boundary. In response to the measured distance, a weight is calculated for an attribute of the color. Then, it is determined if the attribute of the color is to be shifted. If so, an attribute shift amount is derived. The attribute shift amount of the color is modified by applying the weighting. The attribute of the first color is shifted by the weighted attribute shift amount, creating a post-processed color. The post-processed color is then clipped.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2009Date of Patent: February 4, 2014Assignee: Sharp Laboratories of America, Inc.Inventors: John Dairymple, James Zhixin Chang, Chizu Watanabe

Patent number: 8645986Abstract: A conventional contents-watching device, etc. calculate users' tastes of contents only on the basis of watching frequencies, so that variety programs that the users are less interested in but that are broadcasted every week are apt to get a higher degree of users' tastes than a soccer game of the Japanese national team that the users are highly interested in but that is broadcasted only several times per year. In order to solve the problem set forth above, the present invention proposes a contents-watching device that calculates a taste value by normalizing a watching index indicative of the number of contents-watching times or the like for every contents-attribute with an emergent index indicative of the number of contents-watching chances, acquires an contents-attribute connected with contents to be a subject for watching recommendation, and has a function to calculate watching recommendation information by using the taste value of the contents-attribute.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2008Date of Patent: February 4, 2014Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Satoshi Matsuyama, Hiroyuki Nakamura, Kenji Sakamoto, Jun Sasaki, Ryusuke Watanabe, Akio Uemichi
