Abstract: A luminescent material includes transition metal complex comprising a ligand in which an electron density of a p orbital of a highest occupied molecular orbital level is higher than 0.239 and lower than 0.711 when the electron density is calculated according to quantum chemical calculation (Gaussian09/DFT/RB3LYP/6-31G), the p orbital being in the outermost shell of an element coordinated to the metal.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a document reader, a storage for storing image data, an image output unit and a control unit. The control unit includes a display image generator for generating a display image, a display panel and a control unit-side controller having a function of presenting the display image based on the image data input in a preview representation and an output processing function of implementing an output process. As the output processing function, two schemes are provided: a first output scheme wherein, when image data has been input through the input unit, the images are output after displaying the images to be output in a preview representation on a display panel, and a second output scheme wherein, when image data has been input through the input unit, the image is directly output without displaying the image to be output in a preview representation on the display panel.
Abstract: An information recording device in accordance with the present invention obtains drive information of a semiconductor laser which is included in a magnetic head by means of a drive information obtaining section and successively records the information in a drive information storing section. A magnetic head control section controls the magnetic head in accordance with a condition of the semiconductor laser on the basis of the drive information thus obtained by the drive information obtaining section.
Abstract: An edge light-type lighting device with which uneven brightness on a display surface hardly occurs or is less likely to occur even though a positioning structure for positioning a light guide plate is included is provided. A backlight unit 24 according to the present invention includes a light guide plate 20, an LED unit 32, a reflection sheet 26, a backlight chassis 22, and a positioning pin 40. The light guide plate 20 has a light entrance surface 20a on the side, a light exit surface 20b on the front, an opposite surface 20c on the back, and a cutout 38 at edges. The LED unit 32 is arranged opposite the light entrance surface 20a of the light guide plate 20. The reflection sheet 26 is arranged on the opposite surface 20c side. Abstract: Disclosed is an MVA type liquid crystal display device (LCD 100A) forming four domains in which liquid crystal molecules fall in different directions that are about 90° apart. The MVA type liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix of rows and columns, which pixels are horizontally long pixels having longer sides extending in the row direction. Each pixel includes two first electrodes (21a and 21b) arranged side by side along the row direction. Preferably, at least one of the two first electrodes (21a and 21b) has a first corner section including a first edge that is parallel to the row direction and a second edge that is parallel to the column direction, and the first substrate further includes an electrode layer (16c) overlapping at least a portion of the first edge or the second edge of the first corner section.

Abstract: A mold of the present invention includes: a base 12 made of glass or plastic; an inorganic underlayer 14 provided on a surface of the base 12; a buffer layer 16 provided on the inorganic underlayer 14, the buffer layer 16 containing aluminum; an aluminum layer 18a provided on a surface of the buffer layer 16; and a porous alumina layer 20 provided on a surface of the aluminum layer 18a.
