Patents Assigned to Sheldahl, Inc.
  • Patent number: 4096018
Abstract: A laminator system for the continuous treatment and lamination of a plurality of flexible webs, with the system including the conventional adhesive applicator stations and laminator stations, with a drying chamber being arranged to dry or otherwise condition the applied adhesive films. The drying chamber is an annular enclosure having a generally inverted "U" configuration with access openings being formed at the base of each of the upright legs. Guide rolls are provided for creating a plurality of web paths through the laminator system, with the web paths including a plurality of generally parallel and concentric spans extending through the drying chamber. In addition to size reduction considerations, the drying chamber provides enhanced versatility for the laminator assembly, and simplifies solvent recovery.

  • Patent number: 4024521
Abstract: An alarm indicator system which is utilized in combination with electrically energized apparatus, the alarm indicator including a plurality of individual indicator lamps for indicating an open-circuit condition in any one of a plurality of circuits. A master alarm lamp is provided which is energized upon the energization of any one of the individual or specific indicator lamps. The electrically energized apparatus includes, as is conventional, a plurality of drive means functioning from a source of electrical power, with relay means having normally open contacts being utilized upon closure to deliver power to the drive means of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4022184
Abstract: A solar heat concentrator comprising, in combination, solar radiation concentrator means and absorber means for converting the concentrated solar energy into usable form. The concentrator means is essentially a line focus Fresnel array, and includes a plurality of generally parallelly disposed elongated self-supporting elements with reflective surfaces, each element having means for positioning the reflective surfaces in an operative solar viewing disposition, as well as in an inoperative or idle disposition wherein the reflective surfaces are protected from adverse affects due to the elements, including wind, dust, hail, and the like.

  • Patent number: 3992966
Abstract: Punching apparatus particularly adapted for use in connection with flexible film materials including cooperatively arranged punch and die assemblies arranged in aligned relationship, and ram means for reciprocably driving or stroking the punch assembly in a reciprocatory path into engagement with the work film and die for performing cutting or perforating operations on the film. A film clamping shoe is provided on the punch and is disposed in opposed relationship to the die assembly, the shoe being arranged to clampably engage the work film disposed between the punch and the die upon advancing or stroking motion of the punch. An annular flange extends upwardly from the surface of the die and toward the punch and film clamping shoe means so as to provide for taut engagement and retension of the film by the film clamping shoe means.

  • Patent number: 3980375
Abstract: A connector for flexible printed circuitry including an elongated rectangular resilient receptacle having a plurality of rigid contact pins disclosed within the resilient block, and extending generally laterally outwardly thereof. The resilient block has an opening formed therein, with the opening extending across a pair of opposed spaced apart jaw members, with the opening including a diagonally extending throat zone which is in communication with a central cavity, the central cavity being disposed between the jaw members, and with the throat zone being disposed between inner and outer lip surfaces. The inner lip surface joins the central cavity along a generally convex surface, with the surface of each of said rigid pin members being substantially tangential through a convex surface, the arrangement being such that the rigid pin members maintain the convex juncture surface in flexed disposition away from said cavity to normally bias said convex surface against the surfaces of said rigid pin members.

  • Patent number: 3973453
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the perforation of flexible film products, specifically flexible film bags wherein openings are provided for releasable retention of the bags on a wicket pin. Means are provided to form first and second openings, with said first opening comprising a plurality of spaced line slits intersecting generally at the mid-points thereof to form arcuately spaced wicket pin receiving sectors, and with one of said line slits being disposed generally parallel to the axis of the film bag. The second opening comprises a single line slit in projected continuation with that line slit of the first opening which is disposed parallel to the film bag axis, with the slit forming the second opening being disposed between the top open edge of the film bag and that line slit of the first opening which is parallel to the film bag axis.

  • Patent number: 3939743
Abstract: An improved punch drive means and control means for a punch assembly adapted for preparation of flexible film products. The punch drive means includes a double acting cylinder with a piston and ram operatively associated therewith, and a film slug ejecting means is provided for utilization with the punch. The double acting cylinder for the punch drive means is provided with a control valve which receives compressed air from an air manifold for controlled actuation of the drive cylinder. The film slug ejecting means is provided with a separate control valve which is also coupled to the air manifold, and means are provided for controlling the delivery of compressed air from the manifold to the ejecting port located in the punch.
