Abstract: An electronic device, with a compartment for storing a religious script, activates playback of a stored audio file in response to a touch input. The electronic device includes power and timing components that can be isolated or disconnected so that the device will not operate during specified times, such as high holy days. Different audio files are available for selection on a server, and the desired audio file can be selected using an application that is running on a separate device, such as a cell phone or table. Provisions can also be made for storage and playback of video files in response to a touch input.
