A tray carrying a row of glove forms, each having a glove thereon, is stopped to position one of the forms at a band applying station. A mast having an extruder nozzle adjacent the cuff edge is moved circumferentially about the cuff in a generally elliptical path to avoid engagement with adjacent forms while allowing the forms to be closely spaced for economical manufacturing.

    Abstract: An autotransfusion set includes a housing having a blood filtering and defoaming chamber connected to receive blood from a patient, and a blood reservoir connected to receive blood from the chamber and having an outlet for returning the blood to the patient, the blood normally being returned under pressure to increase the rate of infusion. A pressure relief valve is connected to the housing which has discrete, selectable pressure settings to limit the pressure within the chamber to a desired value. A float valve is disposed in the reservoir for closing it to the outlet when the blood level reaches a predetermined minimum level so as to preclude the infusion of air emboli to the patient, and for opening the reservoir to the outlet after the blood level has risen above the minimum level in order to reestablish infusion.

The tube is inserted into a heat forming mold having a Luer lock forming portion, and a mandrel, having a Luer taper, is forced into the portion of large diameter to heat form an integral catheter connector portion with an internal taper and an integral external flange having Luer locking lugs adapted for locking engagement with a complementary Luer lock connector. The catheter can be used in a intravenous catheter or cannula placement unit.

    Abstract: A cylindrical, cup-shaped, porous, sintered powdered metal filter is sealed in a tubular thermoplastic fitting (e.g., the needle-retaining hub of a hypodermic needle or an adaptor or a connector in the line of an intravenous infusion set) by force-fitting the open end of the filter within an annular bead on the interior wall of the tubular fitting and induction heating the filter so that the thermoplastic bead will flow into the pores of the filter to form a continuous ring seal between the filter and the interior wall of the fitting.

    Abstract: An improved filter for medical infusion and injection equipment is manufactured by compacting stainless steel powder particles of an irregular or dendritic shape, in the substantial absence of a binder, to form a porous, self-supporting green article, and thereafter sintering the green article. The resulting filter is porous with the pores communicating with one another to form a network of tortuous or winding paths having lateral, oblique and vertical segments which function to trap contaminating particles of a solution passed therethrough. The porous filter is sealed in a tubular fitting by force-fitting the filter into the internal peripheral wall of an annular plastic bead in the fitting and heating the filter to cause the plastic bead to soften or melt and flow into the pores of the filter along a continuous peripheral ring.
