Abstract: To avoid or reduce the necessity of loading a cargo container on a container carrying vehicle, for example, a cargo container 100 includes: engaging portions 101b disposed at four corners of each of upper and lower surfaces of a shell 101 and each engageable with a spreader of a container crane; and a wheel 113 capable of supporting the cargo container 100 such that the cargo container 100 is allowed to run. The wheel 113 is switchable between a runnable state where at least a lowermost portion is located below a bottom surface 101c of the cargo container 100 and supports the cargo container 100 such that the cargo container 100 is allowed to run, and a loaded state where the wheel 113 moves inward from the bottom surface 101c and the bottom surface 101c is allowed to make contact with a mount surface of the cargo container 100.

Abstract: A method of handling bulk cargo, including suspending, with a spreader of a container crane, a cargo handling system above a dock where a ship loaded with bulk cargo lands, the cargo handling system including a frame having an engaging portion engageable with the spreader of the container crane, a blower attached to the frame and configured to suck air, and a separator attached to the frame and configured to separate bulk cargo sucked along with the air from the air sucked by the blower. While the cargo handling system is suspended above the dock, using the cargo handling system to suck up the bulk cargo from the ship with the blower of the cargo handling system together with the air; separate the bulk cargo from the air with the separator of the cargo handling system; and discharge the separated bulk cargo from the cargo handling system.

Abstract: The availability of a container crane or a dock is improved. A cargo handling method includes steps of: moving a lighter 601 to a different dock, the lighter 601 carrying a freight container wheeled platform 501 loaded on the lighter 601, the freight container wheeled platform 501 carrying a container 401 placed on the freight container wheeled platform 501 in a container yard; and unloading the freight container wheeled platform 501 from the lighter 601 to the different dock.

Abstract: To be able to improve the flexibility in handling containers, a container ship configured to transport containers includes: an opening 106 through which cargo may be handled by moving a wheeled platform 501 between the container ship and a dock, the wheeled platform 501 including a plurality of containers 401 placed thereon; and a floor board 108 or a rail configured to support the wheeled platform 501 loaded from the dock through the opening 106.
