A shoe upper (1) includes a heel knitted fabric (10) that is formed in a shape such that it wraps around a portion ranging from the Achilles tendon to the heel of a wearer, and a body knitted fabric (11) that constitutes the portion of the shoe upper (1) other than the heel knitted fabric (10). The shoe upper (1) further includes a toe side joint portion (13) that retains a shape of a front end portion of the body knitted fabric (11) such that it wraps around the toes of the wearer. A first line (L1) obtained by bringing a left edge portion (11a) and a right edge portion (11b), in the knitting width direction, of the body knitted fabric (11) into butting contact with each other, and a second line (L2) obtained by folding a set up portion (10s) of the heel knitted fabric (10) into two portions so that the two portions butt against each other are in one straight line.

A setup portion (1S) or a knitting end portion is formed at a heel side end of the footwear (1), and such setup portion (1S) or the knitting end portion is extended in a height direction of the footwear (1) and also connected to the heel portion (20). The heel portion (20) is formed by a knitting of stacking a stitch row for plural tiers in a wale direction, and gradually differing the number of stitches in a knitting width direction of the stitch row when stacking tiers of the stitch row. The heel portion (20) is formed to a tongue shape in which a width gradually becomes narrower toward a heel side of the footwear (1) according to the change in the number of stitches.

Abstract: Provided is a footwear that excels in productivity and shape retaining property. Footwear is knitted seamlessly with a flat knitting machine having at least a pair of a front and a back needle bed and includes a base knit fabric portion having a mixed section knitted using a first knitting yarn and a second knitting yarn interwoven along the first knitting yarn. The first knitting yarn configuring the mixed section of the footwear is a knitting yarn that is not a heat-fusible yarn, and the second knitting yarn is a heat-fusible yarn having thermal adhesiveness and heat-shrinkable properties. The second knitting yarn preferably has a configuration including a core made from a material that contracts by heat, and a sheath made from a material having a lower fusing point than the core.
