Abstract: A fishing rod comprising a first rod having a grip and tapering toward the fore end and a second rod having a tip and a connecting portion connected to the fore end of the first rod, the first rod having an ellipse-like cross sectional shape, the tip at the second rod having a round-like cross sectional shape, the connecting portion changing in cross section from an ellipse-like shape to a round-like shape. A third rod section with an elliptical cross section may be added between the first and second rod sections.
Abstract: A fishing reel is disclosed as comprising a spool shaft having a spool supported to a reel body which has a pair of side walls opposite to each other, a pinion supported axially slidably and rotatably to said spool shaft, and a clutch provided between the spool shaft and the pinion, so that the spool shaft can be made freely rotatable relative to the pinion upon sliding movement of the pinion. The pinion has at an axially intermediate portion of its inner periphery an annular recess and at both axial sides thereof first and second bearing portions in contact with the outer periphery of the spool shaft. The spool shaft has at its outer periphery, and at a position opposite to the first bearing portion when the pinion axially slides to a position permitting the spool shaft to freely rotate, a smaller diameter portion which is larger in axial length than the first bearing portion.
Abstract: A saddle support device for a bicycle, comprising a support member fixed to the upper portion of a seat post and a mechanism clamping a saddle frame and having a receiving member seated onto the support member and a holding member, said saddle frame being compressed between said receiving and holding members. The upper surface of the support member and the lower surface of the receiving member have spherical profiles, thereby making it possible to adjust the saddle not only in vertical angles longitudinally and laterally of the bicycle but also in rotation around the lengthwise axis of a locking member which draws the holding and receiving members together.
Abstract: A fishing reel in which a fishing line can be wound on a spool through rotation of a rotary frame having a bail arm by operating a handle and the wound line can be drawn out of the spool for casting by turning over the bail arm, said spool having a first flange at a side with respect to the reel body, a cylindrical extension extending at the first flange toward the reel body, a third flange provided at the end of the cylindrical extension to thereby form a groove for receiving the fishing line, so that the fishing line, if backlash occurs during casting, can be prevented from falling between and being caught by the spool and the rotary frame.
Abstract: A gear crank comprising a one-piece crank and a chain gear, said crank having a vertical chain gear receiving face formed at the axially outer surface thereof at the one axial end side thereof, so that the chain gear is detachably mounted on the receiving face.
Abstract: A fishing reel, which supports a spool shaft having a spool which is movable in reciprocation longitudinal of a reel body, comprises a master gear having a first annular toothed portion for transmitting rotation to a rotary frame and a second annular toothed portion disposed at a position different in diameter from the first toothed portion, and an association shaft which has an association gear engageable with the second toothed portion and carries an engaging member engageable with a traverse groove provided at the spool shaft, so that the engaging member rotates following the rotation of the association shaft to allow the spool shaft to reciprocate longitudinally of the reel body, thereby avoiding longitudinal movement of the spool shaft in synchronism with rotation of the rotary frame.
Abstract: A pedal for a bicycle, which has a pedal shaft supported rotatably to a crank arm, the pedal shaft carrying a frame which is displaced with respect to the axis of the pedal shaft and extends in parallel to the axis thereof. A pedal body is fit onto the frame to be fixed thereto, so that the frame may reinforce the pedal body and bear an unbalanced load applied thereto.
Abstract: A rear derailleur for a bicycle, which comprises a derailleur body and a changeover frame having a guide pulley and a tension pulley, and guard plates for preventing a driving chain from escaping meshing with each pulley. The front edge of the guard plate corresponding to the tension pulley is positioned radially inwardly from the outer periphery of the tension pulley and close to the center thereof, and a pulley cap is interposed between the tension pulley and the guard plate.
Abstract: A derailleur for a bicycle, which is so constructed that a movable member is supported to a base member through two linkage members, a changeover frame having two pulleys carrying thereon a driving chain is pivoted to the movable member, and a tension spring is interposed between the movable member and the changeover frame, so that the tension spring exerts tension on the driving chain, said changeover frame being subjected to resistance against its swinging motion in a direction opposite to the working direction of the tension spring, thereby swinging the changeover frame easily in the direction of working of the changeover frame, while, requiring more force in the reverse direction to the working thereof, thereby making swinging of the changeover frame in the working direction of the tension spring easy and more difficult in the swinging motion direction opposite to the working direction of the spring.
Abstract: A covering apparatus for a handle bar of a bicycle, comprising a body formed of a synthetic resin foam and having a hollow into which the handle bar is insertable, the body being provided at one side thereof with an open groove through which the hollow is open to the body exterior, and a stopper provided within the groove for closing the open groove.
Abstract: A fishing reel which supports at its body frame a spool freely rotatably by disengagement of a clutch is provided with a first detector which detects a drawing-out speed of a fishing line wound onto the spool, a second detector which detects a rotational speed of the spool, a processor having an arithmetic unit and connecting with the output lines of the detectors, and an actuator operative by an output signal from the processor which controls application of a rotational resistance against free rotation of the spool.
Abstract: A fishing reel carrying a spool shaft which has a spool and is journalled through first and second bearing cylinders to a pair of first and second side frames opposite to each other, the spool shaft extending at its one axial end through the second side frame and extending outwardly therefrom, so that the extending shaft portion supports a tubular shaft having a pinion engageable with a driving gear. At the second bearing cylinder provided at the second side frame is formed a support arm extending in parallel to the extending shaft portion, so that the support arm directly or indirectly supports the extending shaft portion.
Abstract: A fixture for mounting a water bottle on a bicycle frame which is provided with a fixing member fixed to the frame and a support member, the fixing member being provided with a pair of skirts which contact with both lateral sides of the water bottle supported by the support member and with both lateral sides of the frame, to cover gaps produced between the water bottle and the frame.
Abstract: A fixing band for fixing a cyclist's shoe onto a pedal of a bicycle, which comprises a band body and a buckle, a shoe binding portion at an intermediate portion of the band body displaced in a circular arc widthwise outwardly of the band body with respect to the straight line connecting a base carrying the buckle and an insertion end to be inserted into the buckle, so that the binding portion is allowed to contact throughout with the outer surface of the shoe's instep.
Abstract: A multi-stage sprocket for a bicycle is disclosed which omits at least one of several teeth provided at the outer periphery of the sprocket body. A toothed member having a number of teeth corresponding to the number of omitted teeth is formed of material superior to the material of the sprocket body in wear-resistance and is mounted to the tooth-omitted portion at the sprocket body.
