  • Patent number: 7556883
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to take fundamental measures against the phenomenon that the positive current collector of a lead-acid battery elongates due to corrosion, in consideration of a mechanism, and to inhibit corrosion elongation. A current collector is prepared by the steps of: mixing a lead oxide of pinning compounds for inhibiting recrystallization with the atomized powder of lead or a lead alloy; and then powder-rolling the mixture. A lead-acid battery is composed with the use of the current collector.

Abstract: A battery state judging method is provided capable of properly judging a state of a lead-acid battery by measuring voltages without measuring currents. A state of the battery is judged by obtaining, in advance, a DC internal resistance r0 of a same type battery in a new and fully-charged state; calculating, in advance, a load R [R=r0×Vst0/(OCV0?Vst0)] at an engine starting time (S112) from an open-circuit voltage OCV0 (S104) and a lowest voltage Vst0 (S108) at the engine starting time, both measured when the loaded battery is in a new and fully-charged state, and the DC internal resistance r0; calculating a DC internal resistance r [(r=R/(OCV?Vst)/Vst)] of the loaded battery from an open-circuit voltage OCV (S104) and a lowest voltage Vst (S108), both measured when the loaded battery is in a deteriorated/insufficiently-charged state, and the load R; and comparing r and r0.

  • Patent number: 7491897
Abstract: In order to suppress the occurrence of damage on a press-fit joining wiring board, a peak value of stress generated on the board in the case of a press-fitting a press-fit terminal into a through-hole is reduced so that it can not exceed the design standard value of the board. In the press-fit terminal in which a body part, retaining part, introducing part and forward end part are integrally formed, a cross-sectional area of the introducing part is reduced to be smaller than that of the retaining part, so that an intensity of the elastic force of the introducing part is decreased to be lower than that of the elastic force of the retaining part. Alternatively, on the wiring board, elastic material is filled into resin for combining sheet-like base material of the board so as to relieve an intensity of stress generated on the board itself.

  • Patent number: 7173397
Abstract: A battery performance monitoring system anticipates the sudden fall of battery output. The system measures the battery voltage at a time point when the discharge current of a battery becomes smaller than the reference current value or at a time point when the current to the load which is connected to the battery becomes smaller than the reference current value, and judges the battery to be abnormal if the difference of the measured battery voltage from the approximate formula in regard to the current-voltage relation in the former half of a same discharge event becomes out of the reference range.

  • Patent number: 7009401
Abstract: Motor generator (MG) is controlled via motor controller by MG control processor of CPU, so that voltage and current of battery is detected while changing frequency of state detection current flowing in the secondary battery. According to the detection results, impedance is calculated in the impedance calculation unit. Remaining mount is calculated from the impedance obtained and the battery characteristics stored in memory. Furthermore, remaining amount change correction unit adds integration current between impedance measurements to the remaining amount for correcting the remaining amount. Weighting coefficient is determined from the standard deviation based on the corrected value and the remaining amount and weighted mean is calculated in weighted mean unit. Next, the result of the remaining amount calculation is used to perform service life calculation and service life correction calculation, and weighted mean is calculated in the same way as the remaining amount.
