Abstract: A copier including a printing unit and a detachable image scanner that is physically detachable from the printing unit and communicably connectable to the printing unit. The image scanner includes a substrate; a microprocessor mounted on the substrate; a digital camera module mounted on the substrate and connected to the microprocessor; and a light-emitting diode (LED) array mounted on the substrate and connected to the microprocessor. The image scanner is configured to illuminate an object to be scanned with the LED array and image the object to be scanned with the digital camera module to produce an image signal that is then transmitted to a central processing unit (CPU) through the microprocessor and from the CPU to the printing unit for output as a printed copy.

Abstract: An imaging module unit fixedly mounted on top of a copier within a document contact area where a document contacts a top surface of the copier. The imaging module unit has a digital signal processor (DSP) chip mounted a base plate, an imaging module mounted on the base plate, and a light-emitting diode mounted on the base plate. The imaging module unit directs light from the LED onto the document, images the contents of the document with the imaging module, and, through the DSP chip, automatically adjusts output.

Abstract: A portable information terminal such as a cellular phone terminal, a tablet type terminal, or an electronic book reader is set to be used only by an identical user. A touch panel type operation panel capable of using a touch panel mode and a fingerprint sensor mode as a common mode is disposed at a portable information terminal. A fingerprint sensing function is incorporated for performing authentication of a user's fingerprint and the fingerprint sensor mode and the touch panel mode can be used as a common mode. The operation panel is configured to display a fingerprint sensor portion 12 at a predetermined position as being in the fingerprint sensor mode when the portable information terminal is turned on, and then fingerprint authentication is performed by obtaining fingerprint information when pressing operation is performed on the fingerprint sensor portion for a predetermined time.

When the lens unit is mounted in one-touch on the module unit, the conical outer circumferential surface of a tip-end part of a lens press-fitting part is in close contact with the inner circumferential surface of the conical concave part of the holder to regulate the coaxiality of the installed lens. A flange face of the lens is directly received and supported by the holder to regulate the parallelity with the imaging element and, in addition, when the lens unit is mounted in one-touch on the module unit, the barrel which is integrally formed with the lens press-fitting part is snap-locked onto the upper end part of the holder to ensure the fixing of the barrel.
