Patent number: 4898195Abstract: A travel compact constituted by a rectangular case which houses a sliding drawer having a set of cells therein for storing a small supply of compatibly-colored cosmetics. The drawer is replaceable by another when its supply is exhausted or should the user wish to take along a different set of cosmetics. When the drawer is retracted from the case to expose the cells, detents formed on the side walls of the drawer at the rear end thereof engage a pair of catches which flank the open front end of the case to prevent withdrawal of the drawer. The rear section of one of the side walls is detacted from the bottom wall and from the rear wall of the drawer to form a flexible tine on whose free end is supported one of the detents. When the tine is depressed, this action releases the detent thereon from its catch and makes it possible to withdraw the drawer from the case.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1985Date of Patent: February 6, 1990Assignee: Shore Plastics, Inc.Inventor: Morris Sussman

Patent number: 4621935Abstract: A method for filling a container for a cosmetic which initially is in a heated liquefied state and which assumes a solid form at ambient temperature. The container includes an open-ended cylindrical case whose bottom end is provided with a lip acting as an end stop with respect to a piston-type actuator slidable therein, the upper portion of this case being threaded to receive a screw-on cap within which is nested a removable filling cup which closes the top end of the case. The actuator is provided with a filling hole making it possible when the actuator occupies its stop position to fill the container from the bottom with the liquefied cosmetic. When the liquefied cosmetic filling the container solidifies, it forms a solid column therein that is seated on the actuator and is raised thereby. The actuator hole is sealed by a plug of a material having a high thermal coefficient of expansion, the plug being deposited in the hole in a cold state in which its diameter is slightly less than that of the hole.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1980Date of Patent: November 11, 1986Assignee: Shore Plastics Inc.Inventor: Morris Sussman

Patent number: 4589430Abstract: A make up kit for storing an assortment of different cosmetics and applicators therefor in a highly compact case having a hinged cover. Nested in the case is a rectangular tray divided by a ridge into a front compartment for accommodating the applicators and a rear compartment for receiving a row of replaceable holders each carrying a supply of a different cosmetic such as pressed powder or mascara. The holders are dimensioned to snap into the rear compartment and to fit snugly between the ridge and the rear wall of the tray. Formed on the rear end of each holder is a tongue which projects from the base and is socketed within a complementary slot in the rear wall of the tray. The top of the holder includes a projecting front ledge which overlies the ridge to define a thumb piece to facilitate removal of the holder from its compartment. Below the ledge on the front end of the holder is a detent which engages the side of the ridge to retain the holder in place.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 1984Date of Patent: May 20, 1986Assignee: Shore Plastics, Inc.Inventor: Morris Sussman

Patent number: 4165572Abstract: A display stand for holding an advertisment or other notice in sheet form in an upright position on a counter or desk. The stand is constituted by a pair of complementary pieces each formed by a transparent panel having a right-angle ledge extending from its lower end so that when the two panels are brought together to sandwich a display sheet therebetween, the ledges which extend in opposite directions then define a base to support the panels in an upright position. Each panel, just above the junction of its lower end and ledge, is provided with interlocking elements in the form of a rectangular slot and a companion tongue which projects in a direction opposite to the ledge direction. When the panels are brought together, the tongue of one fits neatly into the slot of the other, each tongue having an edge notch therein making it possible to slide one panel relative to the other to a position at which the panels are then coincident with each other and are interlocked.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1977Date of Patent: August 28, 1979Assignee: Shore Plastics, Inc.Inventor: Morris Sussman
