Abstract: A golden yellow pigment having good corrosion resistance and weather resistance is disclosed, which comprises titanium metal flakes the surfaces of which are covered with a titanium nitride layer, the titanium nitride-covered titanium metal flakes having a nitrogen content of from 5 to 22% by weight, an oxygen content of 2% by weight or less, and an aspect ratio of 10 or more.
Abstract: Disclosed is a graded metal powder for metallic pigment, comprising a metal powder wherein the metal powder has a mean particle size of from about 2.5 to about 15.0 .mu.m, the content of particles having a particle size of not greater than 1 .mu.m is not larger than about 0.5% by volume, and the metal powder has a particle size distribution such that not smaller than 97% by volume of the particles of the metal powder fall within the range between half the mean particle size of the metal powder and double the mean particle size of the metal powder. Also is disclosed a process for producing a graded metal powder by classifying metal particles dispersed in a mineral oil containing a nonionic-anionic surfactant.
Abstract: A colored metallic pigment comprising a metallic pigment, a coloring pigment, and a thermally polymerized carboxylic acid having at least one double bond and at least two carboxylic groups prepared by the thermal polymerization of at least one double bond-containing carboxylic acid, the coloring pigment being chemically adsorbed on the surface of the metallic pigment via the thermally polymerized carboxylic acid. The colored metallic pigment may be coated with a polymer composed of a radical polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid and a monomer having at least three radical polymerizable double bond. A bright paint, bright ink and bright plastics which contain the colored metallic pigment are also disclosed.
