  • Patent number: 10661987
Abstract: A bin tipper includes a vertical support column, a cam track adjacent to the vertical support column, a structural member mounted to and configured to translate along the vertical support column, and a gripper assembly including a gripper mount having gripper arms mounted thereon that are configured to receive and hold a collection bin. The cam track includes a proximal portion parallel to the vertical support column and a distal portion provided at an angle with respect to the vertical support column. A first end of the gripper mount is pivotally mounted to the structural member and a second end of the gripper mount includes a cam follower extending therefrom that is configured to move within the proximal and distal portions of the cam track. The gripper assembly lifts and inverts the collection bin based on a position of the cam follower of the gripper mount within the cam track.

  • Patent number: 10086380
Abstract: A shredder system and methods for shredding recyclable material including a primary shredder that shreds recyclable material into a first larger shred size and a secondary shredder that shreds recyclable material into a second smaller shred size material. The secondary shredder includes a rotor and a knife that meshes with the rotor to cause all of the first larger shred size material to be further shredded to the second smaller shred size material. The secondary shredder may also include a diverter mechanism capable of diverting the first larger shred size material. Either the diverter mechanism or the knife can move relative to the rotor to create an opening that allows the first larger shred size material to avoid being further shredded into the second smaller shred size material. The shredder system may be disposed in a motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8177153
Abstract: A side rail for installation in a shredder and method of fabrication in which the side rail has fingers that are partially embedded in a base. The fingers are made from steel and the base is made from cast aluminum. The fingers have a dovetail shape at an outer end thereof that is immersed in molten aluminum in a mold. When the aluminum is allowed to harden the fingers are embedded in the base. The side rails are much lighter weight than previous side rails, and are still sufficiently strong to be used in a mobile shredder.

  • Patent number: 8137045
Abstract: A bin tunnel having collapsible sides is used with a truck box of a truck to load content into the truck box from a bin that is sized to fit within the bin tunnel when the bin tunnel is in an open position. When the bin tunnel is in a closed position a footprint of the bin tunnel is very small compared to the open position because the sides are retracted. The footprints can be less when the bin tunnel is in the closed position from thirty (30) percent of the footprint of the bin tunnel in the open position. When the bin tunnel is closed, the contents of the truck box are secure as the space inside of the closed bin tunnel is too small to allow access to the interior.

  • Patent number: 7891592
Abstract: A mobile shredder has a shredder mounted in a truck box in combination with a vibratory hopper. The vibratory hopper is open on one side and opens into a fixed hopper. The fixed hopper is mounted on the shredder and is shaped to direct material to be shredded into the shredder. The vibratory hopper and the fixed hopper are located immediately adjacent to one another, but slightly apart from one another, so that vibration of the vibratory hopper does not cause vibration of the fixed hopper.

  • Publication number: 20060219826
Abstract: This invention relates to a shredder and method of reducing shred size of shredded material by arranging knives on each shaft so that each set of knives has a high number of unique hook positions around a circumference of the set and controlling the locations and numbers of hooks to maintain a low torque load. The knives at the ends of each set have a larger diameter than the remaining knives. Shred sizes can be reduced to approximately half the size of previous shredders with no increase in torque load. A bulkhead wall and spacer assembly is adjustable with recessed portions to block off substantially all of a void that would otherwise exist at the end of each shredder body. A fingerplate assembly is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20060219831
Abstract: An auger is mounted in a trough beneath a shredder. The auger has a double flight that progressively reduces in pitch and outside diameter from a drive end to a free end. A free end of the trough has a tube concentrically aligned with a shaft of the auger. The auger forces shredded material through the tube to compact the material into logs. An auger and shredder in combination is described as well as a method of removing and compacting shredded material using an auger.
