  • Patent number: 8885604
Abstract: A first base station associated with a first radio cell is used to transmit data packets in a second sequence to at least one subscriber station by at least one first radio channel. The subscriber station sorts out the received data packets into a first sequence in an intermediate storage unit and the base station associated with the first radio cell is used to derive and/or represent status information relating to the content of the intermediate storage unit in a status memory unit. Transmission of the data packets is relayed from the first to the second radio cell and data packets are transmitted by a base station associated with the second radio cell to the subscriber station by at least one other radio channel. • Patent number: 8884213
Abstract: Systems and methods for correcting output signals from non-linear photosensors, specifically silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs). SiPMs are used in a PET detector to readout light emissions from LSO scintillator crystals. The non-linear output of the SiPM can distort and compress the energy spectrum which is crucial in PET imaging. The non-linearity effect for inter-crystal scattered events can place an energy event outside of the PET detector energy window, resulting in a rejected event. Systems and methods to correct the SiPM non-linearity for inter-crystal scattered events, so as to be able to obtain the proper energy event and produce an accurate medical image, are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8886231
Abstract: A method carries out mobile communication between a mobile unit and a communications device, which exchange voice messages using a telecommunications protocol. During the method, at least one image can be generated by the mobile unit. In the event that at least one image is generated by the mobile unit, at least this image is transmitted to the communications device. On the part of the communications device, an image object is selected based on the transmitted image, and a position of this image object is determined. The determined position is transmitted by the communications device to the mobile unit, and the mobile unit marks at least one of the images in such a manner that, starting from at least one of the images, which is taken as a basis for the selection of the image object, and from the position, a location of the selected image object is specified for at least one image to be marked and a marking object is superimposed upon at least one of the images at the position.

  • Patent number: 8886286
Abstract: The device enables the detection of positions of the navigation marking elements on a reference star by way of at least two projection images taken by an X-ray system at different pivoting angles of a C-arm. The positions of the navigation marking elements on the reference star are also calculated by a navigation system tracking camera. The transformation from the coordinate system of the navigation system into the coordinate system of the X-ray system is calculated from the position of the reference star detected by the X-ray system and the position of the reference star detected by the tracking camera. The navigation marking elements are located outside of the volume which is reconstructed by way of the imaging process in order to prepare tomographic images. The positions of the navigation marking elements are determined from two-dimensional projections. All the navigation marking elements need only be detected by at least two projection images.

  • Patent number: 8885793
Abstract: An alternative analytical method for tomographic reconstruction in the 2D parallel-beam geometry is presented. This method may follow a filtering and backprojection scheme and may involve a global filtering in the projection domain and a local filtering in the image domain. For example, the method may include applying Hilbert filtering to the received projection data, computing an antiderivative of the filtered data, backprojecting the antiderivative into the image domain, and computing the 2D Laplacian of the backprojection image.

  • Patent number: 8881800
Abstract: An installation for the in-situ extraction of a substance including hydrocarbons from an underground deposit is provided. The conductor and return conductor of the inductor lines are guided essentially vertically in the capping to the bottom of the deposit, at a small maximum lateral distance of 10 m compared to the length of the lines, but especially less than 5 m. Preferably, the inductor lines are guided horizontally in the deposit and are at different distances in certain areas. Furthermore, the electrical conductors and return conductors perpendicularly extending in the capping preferably combine to form a conductor pair. In this way, the conductor pair can be introduced into a single borehole which reaches into the reservoir and splits only once it has arrived in the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 8886574
Abstract: A generalized pattern recognition is used to identify faults in machine condition monitoring. Pattern clusters are identified in operating data. A classifier is trained using the pattern clusters in addition to annotated training data. The operating data is also used to cluster the signals in the operating data into signal clusters. Monitored data samples are then classified by evaluating confidence vectors that include substitutions of signals contained in the training data by signals in the same signal clusters as the signals contained in the training data.

  • Patent number: 8885961
Abstract: A method for removing noise from an image includes receiving image data including a plurality of pixels. A graph including a plurality of nodes and a plurality of edges interconnecting the nodes is formulated. Each pixel of the image data is represented as a node of the graph and each edge of the graph is assigned a weight based on a penalty function applied to the nodes connected by the edge where the penalty function is less when a value of a given pixel of the plurality of pixels is between or equal to the values of two neighboring pixels than when the value of the given pixel is either greater than or less than the values of both of the two neighboring pixels. A total penalty of the graph is minimized. A denoised image is provided based on the total penalty-minimized graph.
