Patents Assigned to Siemens Aktiengesellschsft
  • Patent number: 8261076
Abstract: Based on security parameters previously agreed upon by first and second communication devices, a first security value is determined by the second communication device and transmitted to the first communication device. The first communication device determines second and third security values based on the security parameters and the first security value and transmits the second and third security values to the second communication device. The second communication device determines a fourth security value based on the security parameters and, if the second security value matches the fourth security value, authenticates the first communication device. Upon successful authentication of the first communication device, a shared key is determined by both communication devices based on the third security value and the security parameters.

  • Patent number: 8241702
Abstract: The embodiments include a method for producing a coating through cold gas spraying. In the process, particles according to the embodiments are used which contain a photocatalytic material. In order to improve the effect of this photocatalytic material (such as titanium dioxide), a reactive gas can be added to the cold gas stream, the reactive gas being activated by a radiation source not shown, for example by UV light, on the surface of the coating that forms. This makes it possible to, for example, dose titanium dioxide with nitrogen. This allows the production of in situ layers having advantageously high catalytic effectiveness. The use of cold gas spraying has the additional advantage in that the coating can be designed to contain pores that enlarge the surface available for catalysis.

  • Patent number: 8224984
Abstract: At least first and second terminals are connected to a packet-oriented network, with real-time critical data being transmitted via payload data frames from the first terminal to the second terminal. In cases in which no real-time critical data is available for transmission, fill frames signaling this fact are transmitted at a minimum transmission rate from the first to the second terminal. The transmission quality is determined by taking into consideration the payload data frames and fill frames received at the second terminal within a particular period.

  • Patent number: 8217663
Abstract: A method determines the layer thickness of a TBC coating of at least one blade of a non-positive-displacement machine. To this end, at least one electromagnetic wave is emitted to the surface of the at least one blade, the at least one electromagnetic wave is then at least partially reflected by the at least one blade, and the reflected portion of the at least one electromagnetic wave is received and subsequently processed. In addition, the at least one electromagnetic wave is emitted with a frequency matched to the layer thickness of the TBC coating, and the phase of the at least one electromagnetic wave is compared with the phase of the at least one received electromagnetic wave. The at least one emitted electromagnetic wave undergoes a phase change during reflection and the layer thickness of the TBC coating is determined by the phase comparison.

  • Patent number: 8217333
Abstract: A flowmeter determines the flow direction of a fluid. The flowmeter has a measuring element, around which the fluid flows and which comprises at least one fiber-optic cable and at least two electrical heating elements that lie adjacent to the fiber-optic cable(s) by a respective heat stream emanating from the respective heating element and directed towards at least one fiber-optic cable, the directions of the heat streams being at least proportionately reversed. In addition, the values of the individual heat streams can be influenced to different extents, depending on the flow direction of the fluid. An electromagnetic wave that can be coupled into the fiber-optic cable(s) can also be influenced according to the temperature of the fiber-optic cable(s).

  • Patent number: 8213380
Abstract: A method for packet-switched transmission of data. A first base station associated with a first radio cell is used to at least partially transmit data packets in a second sequence to at least one subscriber station by at least one first radio channel. The at least one subscriber station sorts out the received data packets into a first sequence in an intermediate storage unit and the base station associated with the first radio cell is used to derive and/or represent status information relating to the content of the intermediate storage unit in a status memory unit. Transmission of the data packets is relayed from the first to the second radio cell and data packets are transmitted by a base station associated with the second radio cell to the at least one subscriber station by at least one other radio channel. The status information is transferred from the base station associated with the first radio cell to the base station associated with the second radio cell.

  • Patent number: 8183581
Abstract: An LED arrangement (light emitting diode) has a plurality of adjacent radiating LEDs that are nearly identically aligned for forming an extended area light source. The LEDs are attached to a metallic multi-film support having sandwich-like insulating intermediate layers and having at least a step-like structure with at least one step. At least one LED chip is placed on each step on a metal film and the metal layer directly above is formed of a corresponding shortening or recess for mounting an LED.

  • Patent number: 8171073
Abstract: A computer system connected to a data communications network, wherein the computer system is reliably protected against computer viruses, unauthorized access to internal data, and loss of data in the event of infection with computer viruses. The computer system has a first computer (1) and a second computer (2) that is independent of and redundant to the first computer. The two computers match themselves by comparing their work results. The receipt of data from the data communications network (6) is limited to the first computer, and the transmission of data to the data communications network is limited to the second computer. At least the initial processing of received data is limited to the first computer, and non-verified or non-verifiable data received by the first computer are stored in the second computer only in locked form, i.e., in non-processable form.

  • Patent number: 8170143
Abstract: A method and a corresponding transmitting device to encode data with a differential space-time block code. A code matrix is calculated recursively from a momentary data matrix with a previous code matrix as a DSTBC block with symbols that are to be transmitted, the data matrix is formed from at least two data symbols that are to be transmitted, and the amplitude is modulated. Amplitude modulation data is encoded into an amplitude difference of at least two data symbols within each individual DSTBC block.

  • Patent number: 8155203
Abstract: An input data stream coded using a first coding method and containing at least one coded digitized image is converted into an output data stream that is coded using a second coding method. The input data stream has first intra-blocks, each of which is coded in a first prediction mode of a plurality of first intra-prediction modes, and the output data stream has second intra-blocks, each of which is coded in a second prediction mode of a plurality of second intra-protection modes. The second prediction modes of one or more second intra-blocks are determined with the aid of the first prediction modes for one or more first intra-blocks and the second intra-blocks are coded using the second prediction modes that are thus determined. In particular, prediction errors that are assigned to the first intra-blocks are taken into consideration for the determination of the second prediction modes.
