  • Patent number: 8619117
Abstract: Transmission parameters for the transmission of at least one ticker information (ti) are transmitted during signaling of the transmission parameters for at least one multimedia data stream (mmd) for a session (S), the parameters establishing an additional logical transmission channel for the transmission of ticker information (ti), specifying the transmission protocol (RTP) and the payload type (555,666, 777,888) and inserting a source information which shows the source of the ticker information (ti). A session description protocol (SDP) embedded in a session initiation protocol (SIP) is used to describe and administer the transmission parameters. The invention allows the signaling for the additional information or ticker information (ti) to be implemented into existing network protocols for packet-oriented networks with only minor additional signaling and transmission operations.

  • Patent number: 8612216
Abstract: To form an audio signal, frequency components of the audio signal which are allotted to a first subband are formed by means of a subband decoder using supplied fundamental period values which respectively indicate a fundamental period for the audio signal. Frequency components of the audio signal which are allotted to a second subband are formed by exciting an audio synthesis filter using an excitation signal which is specific to the second subband. To produce this excitation signal, an excitation signal generator derives a fundamental period parameter from the fundamental period values. The fundamental period parameter is used by the excitation signal generator to form pulses with a pulse shape which is dependent on the fundamental period parameter at an interval of time which is determined by the fundamental period parameter and to mix them with a noise signal.

  • Patent number: 8611516
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and a communication device for establishing a communication transmission (ALTV), wherein upon detecting an original signaling (SIGRA) directed from a first terminal (EG2) to a second terminal (EG2) within the scope of an establishment of a connection, the second terminal (EG2) being addressed via a target address associated with the second terminal (EG2), it is recorded in what quantity further signalings (SIGRA) having the same sender address specifying the first terminal (EG1) and the same target address are detected within the scope of further attempts to establish a connection. An evaluation of time information is carried out with regard to the times of the detection of the detected original signaling (SIGRA) and the detected further signalings (SIGRA) in relation to at least one predetermined time period.

  • Patent number: 8595795
Abstract: An administration of telephony applications conventionally using domain controller-based access authorization methods is provided such to eliminate the need for these methods. In a network where terminal devices are connected to time division multiplexed or packet-oriented network components, a terminal device establishes a communication link to a terminal device-specific adaptation for telephony applications via an interface for telephony applications, and the authorization for importing data is verified. Data is imported via the communication link to affected applications or affected services of the network. Any terminal device can be used to import the data and that no special authorizations are required for access as the proprietary/license keys that are exchanged between the terminal device and the exchange and the domain controller provide protection from unauthorized access to the exchange and to the local network connected thereto.

  • Patent number: 8581757
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the vector quantization of a feature vector, in particular with respect to a data compression of a signal to be transmitted or to be stored, particularly a voice signal or a video signal, wherein at least one codebook from a plurality of codebook vectors is searched for a code vector representing the feature vector. During the search, a sequence of codebook vectors is examined for the suitability thereof to represent the feature vector. In the course of the search for the code vector, a set of neighboring vectors is dedicated to at least one of the codebook vectors potentially to be examined, preferably prior to the search. The search for the code vector includes at least part of the neighboring vectors.

  • Patent number: 8571539
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a notification of a shutdown event includes a communication terminal turning off or otherwise shutting down and prior to turning off sending a notification to a third party device such as an access point, base station, server, or proxy, that identifies information relating to the shutting down of the terminal such as a location, purpose for the shutdown and other relevant information. Subsequent devices that attempt to establish a communication connection with the terminal may then receive the notification or information from the notification via the third party device. The sending of information relating to the notification or the notification by the third party can also trigger another action. One example of such an action is the forwarding of the communication connection request to another device to receive that request based upon a predefined rule or a predefined forwarding address.

  • Publication number: 20130242808
Abstract: After the input of a subscriber (TLN1) of the first terminal (EG1), a connection to a temporarily available voice memory (SPS) is signalized by the same, and subsequently a voice message (spn) and at least one piece of retrieval information (ai) identifying the second terminal (EG2) is transmitted and stored at that location. Subsequently, the connection is terminated and the second terminal (EG2) is informed of the presence of a retrievable voice message (spn) in the voice memory (SPS) via the voice memory (SPS) by means of the at least one piece of retrieval information (ai), and the voice message (spn) can be retrieved from the second terminal (EG2) by means of the transmitted retrieval information (ai), or is transmitted to the second terminal (EG2) by the voice memory (SPS). In this manner voice messages (spn) can be stored for terminals (EG2) and retrieved by the same, regardless of whether one or no voice memories—such as an answering machine—is associated with these terminals (EG2).

  • Patent number: 8539264
Abstract: The connection unit is intended for connecting terminals (T) to networks (LAN) that provide electric energy (E) to the terminals (T) connected thereto. The connection unit (AE) is configured for generating electric energy for the connection unit (AE) from the energy (E) provided, and has a switching element (SE) for separating the supply of energy for the terminals (T), wherein the switching element (SE) is controlled via the network (LAN). It is advantageous that the energy supply of the terminals (T) can be separated or switched on via the network (LAN) by means of the switching elements (SE), for example as a function of the presence or the location of users of terminals (T). Since the separations of the energy supply to the terminals may be carried out over longer periods of time, such as during the night, the energy consumption of the terminals (T) or of the networks (LAN) providing the electric energy to the terminals (T) can be reduced significantly.

  • Patent number: 8515043
Abstract: The invention relates to a conferencing unit for multi-point communication in the course of a telephone conference. Previously, it was not possible to call up and document agreements and decisions in voice-based telephone conferences in a computer-aided manner. The reason was that in traditional conferencing units, all audio channels were mixed into an overall channel and therefore an undisturbed interaction of individual participants with the system is not possible. The invention enables an individual association of a conference participant with a decision processing unit, in which decisions can be announced in a dialog system and stored in a computer-readable format.

  • Patent number: 8514840
Abstract: In one aspect, a call distribution in a direct communication network, also designated as a peer-to-peer network is provided. In doing this, the difficulty exists of integrating the call distributing functionality into the peer-to-peer network while retaining the self-organization capability and the fail-safety of existing peer-to-peer networks. To solve for his, items of characteristic information of a number of clients are transmitted to the client carrying out the call distribution, and this client routes an incoming call on the basis of these items of characteristic information.

  • Patent number: 8515039
Abstract: A method and a voice conference system for carrying out a voice conference are disclosed, the system having at least three voice terminals in a communication system. At least one of the voice terminals is associated with a first group such that the voice data provided by the respective receiving channels thereof is decoded into individual voice signals for said group. Said individual voice signals are superimposed to form an aggregate voice signal and the aggregate voice signal is encoded into first aggregate voice data. Furthermore, at least two of the voice terminals are associated with a second group such that the second group has only voice terminals wherein an extensive inactivity on the respective receiving channels thereof is identified. The first aggregate voice data is supplied to the voice terminals associated with the second group by the respective receiving channels for a respective output of the first aggregate voice data.
